Much like the Archdutchy of Paardenveld, the two duchies of Assoven and Zwartedoorn ruling families descend branch of the Imperial lineage. Serving historically are regional enforcers and holding historically strategically significant territory, they have become powerful and influential lords within their areas of influence.
Dukes (honorific: Their Grace) are expected to serve as the first line of defense, and act with some amount of autonomy, defending and organizing the defense of the Empire.
