Moonlit Market

History

Once the beating heart of Oakreach , the Moonlight Market was a grand spectacle of trade, culture, and festivity. Founded nearly two centuries ago, the market was named for the silver lanterns that illuminated its stalls, glowing like fallen stars beneath the great oaks. At its height, over 150 vendors filled its winding paths, offering exotic spices, enchanted trinkets, masterfully crafted weapons, and rare alchemical ingredients gathered from the depths of the Crimson Pine Forest

Travelers from distant lands would come to barter beneath the towering trees, while musicians and performers filled the air with lively tunes. Merchants from Tideport brought silks and spices, Suncrest artisans displayed fine metalwork, and druids from the wilds traded in charms and rare herbs. The market thrived as a hub of commerce and culture, its reputation spreading far beyond the borders of Oakreach.

But prosperity is fleeting. Over the past few decades, the market has withered. The constant infighting in House Evergreen drove many vendors away. Untammed Banditry along trade roads made it too dangerous for many to bring their wares, and some whisper that supernatural forces perhaps curses laid by forgotten spirits of the forests have played a role in the decline.

Now, fewer than 30 vendors remain. The once-glorious market is a shadow of its former self, its lanterns dimmed, its laughter faded. Yet, those who remain are fiercely loyal, holding onto the belief that the Moonlight Market will rise again. And in the quiet hours of dusk, when the last traders close their stalls, the old whispers still echo that something ancient watches over the market, waiting for the right moment to restore its former glory.
