Nabhi ot’Esera Badal Rockbreaker Character in Legends of Elohey | World Anvil

Nabhi ot’Esera Badal Rockbreaker (Nab-hee ot-ez-era Bah-dal)

Quiet. Resolute. In many ways, Nabhi is the voice of caution and the heart of the team.
— Kavi ot’Maninga Sukir Arroweye, leader of the Kwi’Sakdi

Rangers to scouts, Kimeta to misakuwo, the Kwi’Sakdi has an eclectic collection of skills. Each member contributes in their own unique way. Nabhi ot’Esera Badal Rockbreaker is no exception.

Nabhi was always a thoughtful soul of deep contemplation. Even as a child, he was one to consider the world deeply, but only lightly of himself. This meant he would think twice and observe before acting. But once he acted, he moved like a gust of wind or with the speed of a striking snake. It wasn’t long before rumors of his natural speed and accuracy spread among his jupeta. It also caught the attention of a certain Order among the Orisnuc.

Walking the Way

It wasn’t long before his natural talents caught the attention of a reclusive monk order unique to the Orisnuc. The Singing Sting Temple had taken a notice of Nabhi and sent two Scorpion monks to speak with him. The monks suggested Nabhi study with them, hone his natural abilities that they believed were a gift from Brother Scorpion himself.

The monk, Ghanri ot’Merat Sibak Sandwhisper, took Nabhi under his wing. Days became seasons, then turned to years. Nabhi’s skills in the Way grew, as did his understanding of the philosophy. In the Way of the Scorpion, Nabhi was taught the secret paths of Brother Scorpion and how he listens, and sometimes gives advice, to Grandfather Sky and the Spirit Winds.

At the end of his tenth year, Nabhi left the temple, feeling that Brother Scorpion had set his path elsewhere. That path was back to his companions and the Kwi’Sakdi.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Nabhi stays in excellent condition, training daily to maintain his physical form. At 5’11", he is lean and wiry, an attribute he uses to his advantage with his training as a Scorpion Monk. It also means he stands out among the often square-shouldered and heavily muscular Orisnuc orcish companions.

Morning workouts with their intense combination of bodyweight, kata, running and more are his regular exercise. Nabhi bears the scars of life at the temple with pride. That hard training routine and regular community work in gardens and construction are a mark of pride for him.

Apparel & Accessories

Nabhi prefers the simple, plain light tan and brown-toned monks’ robes, tunic and trousers like what he wore at the temple. They are more functional, than stylish but suit his needs well.

But, as a tie back to his heritage, which he treasures, he uses a light tan canvas shoulder bag adorned with the Orisnuc knots for ‘contemplation’, ‘balance’, and ‘serenity’ along the shoulder strap. This bag has a leather trim at the corners for durability, and two traditional Orisnuc canvas knot-buttons to keep it closed.

As for footwear, Nabhi prefers the close-fitting slippers with dark green sandal ties that wrap around his ankles and calves.

He keeps his ‘hair’, the snake-like head tendrils, tied back from his face. This is more for efficiency than style, since having his head-tendrils away from his face helps keep his vision clear.

Mental characteristics

Morality & Philosophy

Nabhi's upbringing and later training with as a Scorpion Monk has left him with a strong sense of helping those in need, telling the truth, keeping his word. Above all, the temple's teachings left him with a drive to achieve a deep understanding of his mind, body, and spirit.

He constantly seeks self-improvement and personal growth. To oppose injustice through education and good works. Violence is only ever the last option, but sometimes is the correct one. Once started, in Nabhi's philosophy and by the teachings of Brother Scorpion, it should come quick, sure, and precise.

For Nabhi, this philosophy of balance requires the cultivation of discipline, resilience, and wisdom. But tempered with a curiosity and open-mindedness about the world, and a delight in the diversity the world brings.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Nabhi's desires and priorities seem complicated, but in reality, they come down to two general concepts.

Pursuit of inner balance and mastery
As a Scorpion Monk, Nabhi works to develop a deep understanding of body and spirit. To achieve enlightenment through self-improvement and personal growth by learning about the world and promoting understanding.

Loyalty to his friends and the Kwi'Sakdi fighting company
These are bonds that have been with him since childhood. They are as much an 'extended family' to him as anything else. He's dedicated to supporting them in battle and in their personal lives if they need it.

Vices & Personality flaws

It's true that he's cautious. But, he is a thinker. Many times, his 'think twice, act once' mantra has saved us more trouble than I can count. Despite that, Nabhi still sees it as a flaw...
— Kavi ot’Maninga Sukir Arroweye, leader of the Kwi’Sakdi

His competence in combat is without question, but Nabhi struggles with indecisiveness. This is a flaw he’s had since childhood, born out of his cautious nature and predisposition to think through all the options for a situation before acting.

It’s a flaw that occasionally leads to moments of hesitation in personal reactions, while he grapples with the possible outcomes of his choices. This tendency to overthink can create complications and, at times, lead to missed social opportunities.

But the flaw doesn’t follow him into combat. Once he takes action, all uncertainty falls away, and any hint of his indecisiveness slips to the background of his mind. Action without thought takes hold then, letting thousand of hours of honed skill carry him along like a leaf on the wind.

Social

Hobbies & Pets

In his personal time, when not reading or meditating, Nabhi enjoys the art of calligraphy. He finds solace and tranquillity with each slow, graceful stroke of a brush. For Nabhi, it’s a way to express his love of creating and creativity but also his emotions in a non-verbal manner.
