Eagrok Nation

On the Vera continent, there is the Eagrok Nation. It's territory covers the Eon Hills to the north and the majority of the Raliok forest in central Vera. Their port cities are mostly along the southern coast.   Eagrok Nation is a federation of provinces, where each province is constructed of self-governed communities. These communities then send representatives to a province-wide convention to discuss laws and policies for the province as a whole. These are then sent back to the communities for ratification. Once ratified, representatives are chosen to bring the ratified policy to the nation as a whole, where it will be debated on if this policy/law stays in its province only or if it should be ratified across the entire federation.   Nearly all communities are governed by a series of committees that oversee various necessities and services within the community.   The following are its provinces:   Essen
  • Primarily a mining and trading locale -- trades with Paguk to the north and mines rare earth metals in the hills and mountains.
  • Capital is Esikan
  • Located in the northern hills.
  • The sea coasts of Essen is one of the locations for the Championship Katj Races, and the town of Esikan, the nearest municipality, hosts the contenders from the different nations and provinces.
  • There is a conservation research center located just outside of the city, close to the sea cliffs in the Eon hills. This research facility covers several kilometers of land and studies the local fauna in hopes of improving the yield of bioseeds.
  • Elikaela
    • The capital is Elikaela, the namesake of the province. As of Present Day (2952 AD, 917 E), The Qohani’s offices are housed within the Vukasin. Every fifteen years, the Qohani’s offices moves to a different nation, in order to keep one nation from holding more power than another.
    • There is a strong Hacker/criminal organization known as “Onei” in town that mostly just deals in information trade. This organization has a very high vested interest in making sure the rights of humanity is not infringed by governments or businesses, and so will sometimes engage in hacking campaigns to leak confidential information so the general populace knows what businesses and/or government is doing behind their backs. Onei also has several subgroups in other provinces within other nations in the federation.
      Zetj
    • Smaller province in southern Vera.
    • Farming province.
      Amer
    • Coast of the Riset Straights.
    • Ruins dot the landscape.
    • New Ameri is the province capital and is home to one of the largest ports. A lot of fishing trade, silk from the forests, and ore from Ratomae goes through their docks.
      Easu
    • Heart of the Raliok forest near central Vera by the river of Zul.
    • River trade.
    • Research community.
    • Manufacturer of bioseeds primarily, which are seeds embedded with nanotechnology that allows metal and other rare earth ores to grow into the carapaces of devices. Once the carapace of the device is made, then the skin of the device and inner circuitry is manufactured and installed. The largest bioseed design and manufacturer company (Biosim) is located in Easu province -- specifically in the city of Zul.
      Haruzi
    • Small province at the border of the forest and the Eagrok mountains.
    • Farming province mostly.
  • Structure

There is the branch of Ivutohan and its supporting court system. See Ivutohan for more information on the court system. This court system is comprised of independent investigators stationed in the various communities within the federation; the community's investigative committee oversees all investigations. Once a case is solved or enough evidence is found to present to the court system, the investigators go to the community courts for deliberation on how best to hold the perpetrator accountable, or how best to solve a conflict. If for any reason, no consensus on accountability and repair can be determined, the case will go to a provincial or national court, where the perpetrators involved will be assessed on if it is safe for them to continue to be in that community, or if they must be removed and sent to a justice convention for reparations and repair. Reparations and repair include therapy sessions, educational sessions, service to communities in need, and a plan to repair the perpetrator's relationship with a community.   To balance the court systems, the communities have committees that oversee various services and needs of community. Policies and laws for that community are ironed out in these committees and sent to the province committee for deliberation. Representatives from all registered communities gather in provincial conventions to determine if policies/laws need to be enacted province-wide; if yes, policies/laws are ratified and sent to national level.   The national convention is called the Vukasin.  All citizens of Eagrok Nation are required to spend at least two years in the Vukasin; there are some exceptions to this rule based on health and ability.   The economy is planned and utilizes a linear optimization algorithm that relies on the local democratic committees to build plans of which the populace votes on and then is implemented locally. The next level of optimization is national, where local plans are woven into a national plan that is then voted on in the Vukasin. This plan may require some adjustments to local plans in order to realize the goals of the nation: sustainable, equitable, and democratic distribution of goods and protection of environment and life. Worker unions are crucial for the stability of the planned economy as all industries are worker owned cooperatives. Resources are all in the public domain, and education and distribution is also publicly owned.   System checks on a local level and national level are balanced with the courts to help the planned economy avoid an authoritarian overreach.

    Culture

Much of Eagrok exists in the massive Raliok forest that covers the interior of the Vera continent. Various cities are built into the canopy of these kilometer high trees. During pollinating seasons, the pollen coats the air, which makes it difficult for Humans to breathe. Masks of various designs are used to filter out the pollen to keep the populace safe from the fungal and bacterial diseases that can spread like a plague if allowed to take root. Often communities host festivals to design the best mask for that season.   Festivals mark the start and end of all seasons, and often include craft making, historical reenactments, and a variety of regional foods.

    History

Early Years (Silence to 410 E)

Eagrok was always a fragmented union of minor nation-states that convened together, per records suggest, every 12 years, to legislate differences within the states to avoid cause for war. Eagrok also struggled with implementation of policies that other countries took for granted, for the individualism streak within the Eagrok population had been relatively strong during its infancy. The states grew out of fragmentation and conflict, and only united under a single flag out of the necessity due to no one location had access to all the necessary resources for independence. The union of the states, per records, was to simplify trade, and to experiment with a more planned economy.

    Unrest ( 481 E to 625 E)

In an abandoned Dragios ruin, scientists discover the Tokuniqohani (star of leadership). The Tokuniqohani revealed individuals that had stable concentrations of all seven Abilities within their blood. These individuals had often been known as the inert due to being unable to utilize any one Ability, but with this ancient tech, it was possible to detect which inert person had all seven aligned in a way that allowed them the ability to detect when Abilities are used in their presence, as long as a sliver of the Tokuniqohani remained in their possession. This discovery lead to the Eagrok splintering into rebel factions and the main government.   Isutobek and Tomrak nations assisted in quelling the rebels and unifying the three nations under a Planetary Union Agreement. They then coerced, sometimes through force, smaller nations. In 624 E, after several blockades, Sunik Nation agrees to join the Union Agreement but only if the Tohanavi can be formed to investigate war crimes.

    Reparations Era (625 E to 730 E)

The results of the Tohanavi's investigations launched a program of reparations for the nations harmed with the more violent coercive campaigns to join the Planetary Union. Various programs included: re-educate Eagrok citizens, exporting goods to nation-states most harmed, and several decades of council meetings to rewrite the Eagrok constitution, military codes, and economic plans. Support for reparations was mixed amongst the populace, and the shortage of goods during periods of it elicited protests that the reparation program was too harsh. Sunik Nation stepped in twice to provide targeted to aid to the regions with the highest shortages of food, in hopes of fostering good will between their people.   Eagrok splintered into provincial states during this time that then organized in a federation. This system was built to attempt to avoid any authoritarian abuse that had caused much of the strife in the former era.

Wonder Era (730 E to present day)

With the discovery of the gateway at the edge of the solar system, renewed interest in space exploration brought the Planetary Union Agreement together by sharing knowledge and skills to help build improved starship and flightship designs, invent and improve infrastructure and communication networks, and provide standard income and educational support to the citizens of all nations. The first space station built by the Planetary Union launched much of its support modules from Elikaelia.

    Technological Level

Growth seeds are a major export for the Eagrok Nation. The tech was hybridized from old Dragios technology, and altered to fit the biome of Elivera. Sculptors are heavily relied upon to shape the growing seeds into the various equipment and devices and vehicular parts, though increasingly robots have replaced some of the professions, so that sculptors could focus more on the detailed work that still required a human's intellect and Ability. Most of the Siteakin in Eagrok are far ahead in biotech due to the dozens of Dragios ruins that dot the landscape of Vera.

    Trade & Transport

Transport of goods is done using essor trains, water vessels on rivers and oceans, and by aircraft. Due to the Raliok of Vera, essor trains and aircraft are most common. Only along large rivers and coasts does Eagrok utilize more water vessels for transporting goods.  Essor trains travel the massive Raliok branches, with bridges spanning the gulfs between. They then curl around the trunks of Raliok near the forest edges to reach the surface.   Every Raliok city has essor train stations under their surface, and launch tubes for aircraft along the northern edge of the town.

    Education

Education is highly valued within the Eagrok Federation. There is a public nation-wide initiative that provides supplies and materials for local communities to implement in their educational programs. These materials and services are often crafted in education conventions that are held annually within the Vukasin headquarters; teachers and interested citizens from all across the federation gather to discuss teaching pedagogy, topics, materials needed, and community needs.   The types of education is split into age groups:
    • Piteakin serves ages 4 through 10. Teachers and children will go through topics in an exploratory way. For example, if studying the solar system, the teacher will guide the students through readings, art projects, engineering projects - such as building a model of the solar system, and other avenues to explore the topic in various mediums.
    • Teakin serves ages 10 through 17. The pedagogy is similar to Piteakin, except now more complicated engineering and computation projects are added to the discovery and exploration mediums for the chosen topics.
    • Siteakin serves ages 17 through 23. This is often considered the academy or university. Here students will choose career tracks they wish to explore. They will explore the necessary knowledge needed for that track, and then will do a internship with someone within that career. At least 2 career tracks must be chosen to graduate from Siteakin. If more than 2 are chosen, then the process can take the student much longer, and they may not graduate until age 26.
    • Niteakin serves anyone older than age 26. Here people may return to the pedagogy of Siteakin to explore a different career track if they decide their current track doesn't fit their needs or interests any longer.
Throughout the educational system, teachers and learning materials stress learning and understanding how to pass on knowledge. Festivals that celebrate graduation from each section of the system is common to instill excitement for learning and exploration. Often, conventions and festivals  are organized by students to show the community what they have learned. Learning Committees will assist in guiding teachers and students in these organizing events.

    Legislative Body
Local committees within registered communities write laws and policies. These then can be ratified province-wide at provincial conventions. For nation-wide laws and policies, provincial ratified policies are brought before the Vukasin for deliberation on if it needs ratified across the federation. The Vukasin can also deliberate laws, but these are then sent to provincial conventions for ratification. All representatives are elected or chosen by the communities within each province. To be considered a community, the town or city must register with the federation so that they can be connected with the planned economy's network and distribution.
    Judicial Body
Court system involves training of individuals, who then complete court assignments in various towns and provinces. These court assignments assist local councils with implementing laws. They are not to interfere with the decision-making of local councils/committees, unless a case is brought to them and their advice is requested by the local populace to help resolve a conflict. They also can assist with the rehabilitation of people who cause severe harm to other people by providing a neutral official for the court preceding. All rehabilitation involves working with the perpetrator, and with the victims, to determine the best way for perpetrator to engage in reparations to the victim, victim's family, and community as a whole. Restorative justice models are a common approach.
