Shadow's Gift
In the eyes of most of the world the Unity of Kirlin is a strange land were monsters live. The Shadow's Gift has the responsibility to show a friendly face to those that do try to approach the nation. So far, the Shadow's Gift has had limited success negotiating with other large nations. The Coalition of Sand and Dreams remains neutral for now because of good trade relations. The Alliance of Hurora has been less friendly but the Shadow's gift has been able to convince them to stay out of the conflict with the Holy Kingdom of Buril for now.
Besides being external diplomats for the Unity, the Shadow's gift is also frequently deployed to help negotiate within the Unity. Because the Unity's large variety of species, it can be hard to entice everyone in certain areas to follow rule. Nobles tent to hire or request assistance from the Shadow's Gift to help them in negotiations of some sort. Because the Shadow's Gift currently sits with the Lords of the Hunt they have a lot of diplomatic weight to throw around within the Unity.
Structure
The Shadow's Gift follows a simple organizational structure. The current Lord of the Hunt is considered the clan ruler and has final say in all matters. It is up to the ruler to select a support structure. Jaqure Rubywater hold a simple group of confidants and support staff in the Shadow's Gift's mansion in Yormgundr. He has entrusted governance of the various regions in the Unity to trusted and clan affiliated nobles.
Culture
The Shadow's Gift operates on trust and they believe that trust is not easily earned. Because the higher ranking body of the clan is all undead, they have had considerable time to hone their negotiation talents. They expect a very high level of talent from people that they accept intro their ranks and are quick to dismiss anyone with opinions outside of clan.
Mistrust within the clan itself is also prevalent. Because the rule and influence is distributed through the Unity, it could be that some clan affiliated noble some province over is scheming against their neighbor. If both are supported by the Shadow's Gift, the advisors might end up scheming against each other to outdo the other advisor. Only in the case where both advisors really trust one another, they'll work together to end the conflict.
Public Agenda
The Shadow's gift public agenda is 100% occupied with the war with the Holy Kingdom of Buril. The Sanguine Mist is putting pressure on the the Shadow's Gift to get the Coalition of Sand and Dreams to form a formal alliance with the Unity of Kirlin instead of being a neutral party. Additionally the Shadow's gift is working on diplomatically delaying the Alliance of Hurora from joining the conflict with the Holy Kingdom of Buril as long as possible.
Assets
The Shadow's Gift's level of wealth is hard to estimate. Because of their numerous connection and diplomatic dealings much of their wealth is stored in relationships and favors. Sometimes their wealth is literally stored with their allies outside of the Unity. This could be stored as a backup plan for some noble or simply because having assets geographically closer makes spreading influence easier.
