The Histories of Eldridth

The History of the world, and how it became to be in the current state it is.

The Celestial Era

The beginning, lasting 200,000 Years until the Dark Celestial Era

This marks the beginning of time itself, until the Old Ones took power of the universe.

  • Circa 145,300 CE
The formation of the Material Level

This marked the creation of the Prime Plane, the Feywild and Shadowfell, formed from the Elemental planes during a cataclysmic event of the Celestial War.

  • Circa 160,000 CE
    Gaia Founded Eldridth

The Divine Gaia, when the other divine were creating mortal races, Gaia came to Eldridth and turned it into a paradise for the Gnomes and Treants. She would find many other worlds to spread them to, and many other mortal races would migrate to the world in turn, but Eldridth was a massive forest world with a single continent upon it,

  • Circa 180,000
    The Migration of the Elves

The Elves had begun to migrate from the Feywild, and many arrived into the forests of Eldridth. They co-existed well with nature loyal mortals of the world, and Gaia welcomed them with open arms onto the world.

The Dark Celestial Era

Beginning in the year 200,000 of the Celest Era, becoming the First year of The Dark Celest Era

As the last of the Benevolent Celests choose to pass to the next universe, this left behind only the corrupted versions of their kind, who became known as the Old Ones. These dark Gods began to pitch the entire universe into evil, and they gave the Prime Plane to the Primordials, which is how Azar came to rule Eldridth

  • 3000 DCE
    The Primordial Pact

The mortals who dwelled in Eldridth at this time were peaceful, living in tune with nature, under direction from Gaia herself. But when the Old Ones signed the Primordial pact, it official turned Eldridth into a world for the Primordials. It was the Fire Primordial Azar. He consumed the worlds forests in an endless fire, and demanded endless sacrifice to the flame.
Azar had a problem though, ruling mortals was not like ruling elementals, as they burned away in a instant in his presence. And so he made a deal with Asmodeus, which opened Eldridth to the plane of Shadowfell, and Asmodeus dispatched a multitude of Tieflings, and a slaver horde of Orcs to enslave and rule over the Mortals in service to Azar. In exchange for the souls of those who died on Eldridth, Azar was granted great infernal powers as well.

  • Circa, 9,600-9,660 DCE
    The Battle against Azar

During the Primordial War for the Prime Plane, Eldridth was overlooked at first, until it tried to free itself, which inspired Gaia, Vashnar, and Phaestus to come to the aide of the enslaved races there from the Primordial Azar who had made a deal with Asmodeus to share the world with Tieflings, and thus the Devils they serve.
The battle against Azar and the Divine was almost bare even, especially after he turned against Law and Order, and Embraced a Demonic power. In the end, Clementis helped the other Divine Seal Azar away, and Aegis arrived breaking the world, and brought an army to defeat the hordes of Orcs, and together they fought to free the newly formed continent of Aygess.

The Death of King Edric Paloma

When King Edric Paloma died, his position as leader of the free mortal races of Eldridth passed to his son Calboros. It was not long before this began to break the unity between the regions, and so the First Kingdom broke down, which weakened all the forces against the Elemental and Tiefling powers attempt to retake the world.

  • 9,658 DCE
    The Breaking of the World

As the war had raged on, many Dragons were killed, and the Orcish hoard was mulling across the lands of mortals, bringing new destruction. In the horror at the loss of so many of his great Dragons, Vashnar called out to Pentharion and Aegis for assistance. Aegis responded by arriving on the world, and breaking the Contienent into three pieces, and bringing his Goliaths to defeat those still in the realms of mortals. Pentharion dispatched Clementis to Eldridth, who brought with him magical power, and when he wove it into the world, the other Divine used the power to imprison Azar in the world. Secretly even Asomodeus assisted in this endeavor, as punishment for the betrayal of Azar.

  • 9,660 DCE
The end of the Azar War

Having sealed the overpowered Primordial away, the Goliaths and people of the new Mortal continent of Aygess defeated, and cast the remaining Tieflings, Orcs and Drow back into the Shadowfell, and the Divine sealed the last passages between Shadowfell and Eldridth. The Divine Neraeos agreed to protect Aygess, and cursed the oceans so that travel between the continents by sea would be impossible, and Vastnar to protect his own, did the same to the skies.
The Divine then dwelt amongst the people for a time, teaching them, guiding them.

  • 9,661 DCE
    The Celebration of Dabraso

The city of Dabrasso was officially christened following the end of the War. What was once a large slave encampment during the Rule of Azar, Dabrasso had burned many times, but it is in this place the first 'city' of Aygess was made. Rebuilt from the slave hovels to a real city. This was a place where the many races of mortals finally could relax in peace after a lifetime of fighting and slavery.

  • 9,665 DCE
    The binding to the Feywild

Gaia, in a effort to repair the damage done to the world by Azar, bound Eldridth temporarily to the Feywild, and brought life and Fea Magic over in droves. Combined with her own power Gaia remade the forests of the world. The Othaya River Valley is where she cast this divine Magic, and to this day that land is still heavily tied to the Feawild. Many creatures from the fae would come to migrate across from there. The Town of Bugtussle was formed near there, but outside the actual magic, to preserve its natural feel.

  • 9,680 DCE
The Building of the Great Dwarven Forges

Deep beneath the world, the Dwarves with the help Phaestus crafted the Great Dwarven Forges. Which allowed them to make wonderous things. The Dwarves had dug deep into the world, and began making many cities. Dwarves are fast workers, and even faster when in the presence of Phaestus, who would not let them work alone, but rather put his Divine effort behind them as well. Great Mountain Cities were formed, and the surface dwellers would often gather outside these cities, hoping to gain a little of the massive wealth and power of the dwarves.

  • 9,772 DCE
    The founding of Ionia

A city tucked into the forests of the north, this city was dedicated to the study of the teachings of Clementis, and sought to truly understand magic, and how it worked. Those interested in studying magic would flock to this location, and as such it rapidly became the fastest growing settlement in Aygess at this time.

  • 9,833 DCE
    The Rise of other Cities

Many other towns and cities started to pop up around the world. Mortals were willing to brave the dangers of the wild, to experience new places, they formed towns first, but the need to remain centralized for protection against the monsters of the natural world.

  • 9,913 DCE
    The Maslands Jungle Empire

Mortals who resided in the Maslands jungle on the far eastern side of Aygess, were not content with being ruled over again by the Divine, and felt that they were never freed, only conquered again. To this end, they formed a nation that refused to acknowledge the Divine as rightful owners of Eldridth.
The Divine cared little, they had plenty of loyal followers and worshipers, who believed them to be the saviors, and none of the Divine of Eldridth had a jealous or hurtful side, besides perhaps Vashnar, but his care for Aygess had faded completely by this point.

  • 10,000 DCE
    The Departure of the Divine

When the Prime Decree was made in the year 10,000 DCE, the Divine were no longer able to dwell amongst the mortals, and this marked the end of the Dark Celestial Era, and the beginning of the Divine Era. For a time the mortals followed in the wake of the Divine Guidance, but eventually they had found new ways of living. This marked the true freedom of Aygess on Eldridth. The first age saw the rise of new cities, the rise and fall of nations. There were some wars and conflicts, but the cooperative nature left behind from the War with Azar had kept the nations of the world from falling into total warfare in the first year.

The Divine Era

0 CE and beyond

From the end of the Primordial War, with Pentharion's Prime Decree, the Divne Era began. None were left to question the power of the Divine, and they had proven themselves the true masters of the Celestial realms in the absences of the Celests and Old Ones.

    The explosion of Ionia

Little is known of what happened, but where the great magical city of Ionia was one day, was a massive crater the next, and all the people there were gone. To many this was a sign of the dangers of magic. Others claimed that study of Fire magic specifically caused this. To this day, there are many who feel those who practice magic in cities and towns are careless, and putting the lives of everyone at risk.
This fear is rarely extended into the educated, and so it is rarely put to rule of law, but the fear of magic is real in some, and almost all of them will point to the crater of Ionia as proof.

    The Maslands Invasion

The Imperial Power of the Maslands, sought to take all of Aygess for themselves, to 'liberate' the people from the Divine they had come to worship. Retreat of The Maslands horde

After it became clear the forces of the Maslands empire could not hold multiple cities, the General fearful of retribution grouped the forces, and roamed, looting and enslaving any who stood in the way.
Eventually they returned to the Maslands jungle Empire.

  • 234 DE

    The Second Maslands Invasion

The Maslands attempted to take Aygess again, though this attempt was far less organized than the first. It was more a roving bands of malicious zealots, who would seek out magic users and worshipers of the Divine. It took almost 60 years to oust these roving bands of barbaric crusaders from the other nations, for they never remained anywhere long enough to be caught by larger forces then them. They would deal death and mayhem quickly where they could, and run when they had to.

The Goblins treated with the General, who was named Marshal, of the victorious forces and agreed to remain in the mountains for all time, and not have to worry about further slaughter. The bugbears were intimidated into the mountains, and Moonpass Fortress was established to keep them there.
The Hobgoblins were decimated, and surrender to General Marshal, who showed them pity, and exiled them to the pass between the Ionia crater and Springoa Mountain Range.

Eventually Safe passage was found, and the Klendev Mountain Pass became well mapped. This allowed new explorations in the frozen forest valleys nestled amongst the Klendev Mountains foothills. This region, while extremely cold, was surprisingly safe compared to the other parts of the world.
People began to travel north, seeking safer regions for settlement away from civilization. Attempts to travel the Frozen tundra to north of the region was still extremely dangerous. Dangerous beasts, and unforgiving deadly weather prevents those who venture out from returning.

  • 939 DE

    The Dwarven Refuge Crisis

Mining deep was a way for the dwarves. The best metals, gems and Rock was the deepest. Cities were built in the depth by ancient Dwarves, and digging into the very mantle of the planet was common place, and understood the dangers. Little did the Dwarves of old know how dangerous it was. One day out of these tunnels, the Reavers emerged. Monstrous creatures, filled with hate, and ravenous for flesh and meat, but not sustained by it.

  • 943 DE

    The Treaty of Kremlin

With the Dwarven refugee crisis underway, the Marshals of Oryn's took many in, and if they had pleased they may of conquered the rest of Aygess. It was the Emperor of the time, Kremlin, who gathered together the Dinescape Alliance, the Queen of Thena and The Governor of Utarford, and the Marshals of the Oryn Empire. They agreed to a fair trade treaty, and ending all potential hostilities by agreeing to negotiate in good faith between.
The Third Maslands Invasion, had left many worried about the prospects of another raid for slaves. This peace was hard negotiated, and much credit was given to Queen Lillian, who's long life experience brought with it much tempered wisdom. The treaty itself was named after the Emperor of Dabraso who had called the meeting. Many believed this to be a selfless act, but those who study history know it was an action to preserve his own power, for if the warlords began to conquer other nations, they would see little value in supporting the Emperor.

  • 1089 DE
    The Second Maslands Revolution

At the end of the previous revolution, slavery had been abolished by the new regime, but enforcing this was harder then they had expected. The new regime took extreme measures to both retain power to prevent it the scales from shifting back, and began a ruthless campaign of law and order in the jungles. Several smaller attempts to over throw them failed from lack of organization. Generations had passed since then, and with Slavery abolished, the hard handed policies of the government had not faded, and so a new revolution arose, this time it was organized and swift, and after one night of bloodshed, the previous government and its goons were dead.
With no government in place, each community formed its own government, and this worked well, and brought a new peace long vacant to the region.

In the end offical borders were drawn, that allowed the Pirate kingdom to keep its inland city, though only trade was allowed to travel the road beyond the border between the farming community and Westworth. Many people, commoner and aristocrat alike, are apprehensive of the development.
