Unusual and Useful Plants

Devils Bramble

This thorny leafless bush grows without water, or nutrients in the soil. Devils Bramble when watered, can spread quickly, and if also in nutrient rich soil, can grow large flowers. The seeds of this plant take flight, and will travel miles away. While eating it can sustain a person, it can permentatly reduce their hit point total by 1d4-1 . When burned, creatures breathing the smoke requires a DC 14 consitution saving throw for each turn within the smoke. On a Failure, that creature take 1d10 Necrotic damage. It is considered unwise to stare into the flames of burning Devils bramble, those that do, may become hypnotised by the flames, amd need to succeed on a DC 13 Wisdom check or becomes stunned.
Making a tea properly with the petals of its flower, is said to give one visions, and is believed by some to prevent the damage from its smoke. Made incorrectly, can be either a deadly poison, or a bad tasting liquid depending on the improper method used.

Jera Flower

A rare flower, that grows with a touch of fey magic. Beautiful and multicoloured with very bright and contrasting colours, this flower always stands out. The flower itself struggles to bloom, and often will instead grown a thin leafy vine, that seeks out a more hospitable location. This vine can grow slowly, but its leaves, which break off easily and regrow quickly can provide excellent nutrition for many herbivores, while its vine is often too corse and bitter, discouraging forging up it. The vine will seek better soil, and develop new roots to bloom a flower. Herbalists have long sought to understand a perfect balance for it to bloom, but it seems each individual plant, requires slightly different things.
The flower can be used in many different ways. When brewed in particular ways one can make a tea that allows communication with animals for a short period of time, in other ways it can put one into a hallucinogenic state. It is most commonly used to make Health potions.

Nightwisps

The Nightwisp is a small bush like vine plant, that grows flowers every few feet, that glow a light blue in the dark. When a creature gets too close to a flower it closes. They grow close to the ground, and love to grow in the shade. During the day, the flowers appears to almost complete retreat, leaving behind large unfolded leaves, that have sharp prickles to protect the hidden bulb of the flower.
When prepared properly, can create potions that give dark vision for a period of time, if prepared improperly can cause blindness either permenatly or for a short time.

Bloodthron Bush

A thick throny bush, that spreads itself out across the ground, but can quickly spring itself together when an animal steps upon a single piece of this bush. The thorns are sharp as daggers, with small barbs upon the throns edges, and as firm as steel, when they whip their pray, they piercing the skin and flesh deeply, digging the barbs in, restraining the creature. Struggling against the grapple, can cause the branches of the bush to wrap tighter around the creature, making it more difficult to escape, causing more damage. Animals that die, are left to decompose, often attracting scavengers as more prey.

Denthia

A small silvery flower, that often grow near bloodthron bushes. These flowers have an extreamly appealing freagrance, and attact herbvors that catch their scent. These flowers have developed a symbiotic relationship with the Bloodthorn bush, as the bush often protects the freagrent flowers from being eaten, as well as providing regular fresh fertilizer to the nearby soil.
This flower is heavily sought after by hunters, as a method of attracting their own prey, and masking their own scents.

Hydrosian Lotus

A gorgeous water lily, that originated on the Elemental plane of water. Its magical connection to that plane allows its rutes to draw fluid from that plane, allowing pure water to flow from their blossoms. A healthy, mature Hydrosian Lotus can produce 10 gallons of water per day. These plants crequire abundant light, and large pools of water, at least 100 gallons per adult plant to grow its thin spindly roots through. A dead Hydrosian Lotus though, can polute a water source, killing all plants feeding off that water.
It is the worry of these flowers dying that often see them removed from local water sources, though some wealthier folks will attempt to cultivate the plants to create water. This plant is very rare these days, but is said that a mass death of these plants caused the growth of the two desserts on the contient.

Flame Clove

A flame glove is a large Garlic like herb, that is believed to of originated on the Plane of Fire. A raw flame clove, contains a mild but unpleasant poison, which requires a DC 13 Constitution check, taking 1d6 Fire damage and 1 level of exhaustion on a failure, or an inability to taste for 1 hour on a failure.
When boiled with salt, then crushed and blended into food, it adds a garlicly flavor, with a hint of chili, and will keep food hat for 1d4 days without drying out or any other heat source.

Darkroot

A large black twisted root that grows up to 10 ft deep, usually found by waterfalls and similar damp areas. It tastes vile, so chewing/swallowing it induces vomiting. It can be made into Titan Gum, a strong and fast-setting glue that bonds in one round and requires a DC 20 Strength check to remove.

Embernut Tree

A shrivelled-coconut looking plant native to the elemental plane of fire that grows in abundent lighting and heat. The flesh is somewhat poisonous, causing rapid dehydration, but the core contains drinkable liquid that remains at 70 degrees for 1d10 minutes after being exposed and one ounce of which equates to one day's worth of water. A typical embernut contains 1d4 ounces of liquid.

Chameleonweave

A very invasive plant, that will immitate the appearance of plants in its vacienty that are medium or smaller, often over growing the true plant, replacing it completly. These plants can provide identical appearing fruits and flowers, that have none of the benifits or tastes of the original. The fruits of this plant provide practically no nutrital value, much like eating grass. These plants give no scent, which is often the only way to know the difference between them without tasting them.

Orevine

A rare vine that is believed to originate on the Elemental Plane of Earth. They grow at the bases of mountains. These plants roots grow towards ore veins even through solid rock, and absorb the minerals there, drawing them into bulbs closer to the base of the plant. The type of metal of it absorbs, is often reflected in small flecks of that metal appearing within the plants leaves. These plants require very little light or soil. Seen as both a guide and a bane to miners, as it slowly can consume an entire vein of metal, but can also guide there mineing efforts when located.
The orevine when well fed with ore, will grow very long and strong vines on the surface. These vines are often as strong as the metal they have absorbed, making them very difficult to clear. Abandoned mines will often have their enterances over grown with these vines. The bulbs of these plants are not ediable, though can be boiled to remove the remaining stores of ore it has stored there, though can often grow as large as a boulder.

Skyling Blossom

Skyling Blossoms are wonderous plants that originated on the Elemental Plane of Air. These wonderous plants have a multistage of life, the first as a seed born from a fully developed Skyling, which falls to ground, and grows into a fungus like root system, that intgrates itself into the soil around it. Eventually it begins to move into its next phase if provided enough light and the right amount of liquid, and begin to grow some small bulbs that appear as unopened flowers around the soil. These bulbs are seek stronger winds, and is able to absorb small amounts of moving air into its bulb, which is absorbed, and delivered to a larger structure under the ground. Eventually the flowers have absorved enough air, to cause the ground under them to begin to buldge upward, eventually dislodging the dirt above a large balloon like bulb that begins to float, attached by the roots it has grown into the ground.
Once it is in the air, it begins to grow long thin spindly roots like the tenticles of a jelly fish, and a large but stemless flower will begin to grow and bloom on the top of it. At some point the roots will begin to be less used then the new thinner roots for providing the essential nutriants, and will begin to wither and break, setting the Skyling Blossom free. It will drift into the air. A Skyling Blossom is believed to be able to live in the sky for years. When the Skyling Blossom nears the end of its life cycle, its blossom will begin to return to a bulblike form, and it rises high into the sky, before the whole thing explodes, spreading thousands of seeds into the winds, to fall to the earth and begin again.
Obtaining a flying Skyling Blossom can be difficult but rewording as it can be used in a properly prepared potion that provides anyone who consumes it with the power of Levitation for a period of time.

Glamfern

A unusual fern, whos fregrance is extreamly appealling, and can temporarly satiate hunger. They grow often within thick woods, far off normal paths. Their aromatic fregrance often drives those sentiant creatures passing by to take pick entire branches to carry with them. While this branch retains is scent for 1d5+5 days, it requires a DC20 nature check to both properly obtain a cut, and plant said branch. Its branches make an expensive perfume if they still retain the majority of their scent (Within the first half of the branches retention of its scent).

Fey Cherry Tree

The Fey Cherry tree's resemble common cherry trees, though when tended properly, grow larger then a giant sequoria, rising more then 500 ft, and a trunk diameter of 50 ft at its base. The Cherrys from this tree grow larger then apples, are said to taste of the Feywild. A fully matured cherry picked from the tree within the last 24 hours, benefits its user with the Protection from Evil spell for 5 minutes. Taken care of, a Fey Cherry Tree can live indefinitely.
