The Feudal System of Thena

Queen Lillian has ruled Thena for since it was a small coastal city, and in that time has had a few families. Each family line she has produced is considered Royalty. They often serve in the Military as Officers, or as council members in the Court. The queen has not taken a family in a little over 200 years, so the Royals today are distant relatives.
The Queen is the Executive power in the Nation, and has final say on all decisions. It has been her guidance that has kept Thena Continuously growing stronger, and kept the people at peace. Via edicts and declarations, the Queen will sometimes change the direction of growth, but mostly she allows the Court to make her plans and directions a reality.
The Court is made up of appointed representatives, mostly but not always from a Royal bloodline. To be on the Court is to be liken until a Royal, though this respect can dwindle in time, where as Royals remain politically powerful even into older age. Often heads of families or seconds are put into these positions. The Court is appointed by localized governors, whom are almost always Royals, and affirmed by The Queen. A 2/3 vote of the Court can oust a representative and force a new one to be appointed.
All knights of the Thena, directly swear loyalty to the Queen, and by extension The Royal line. Any of great skill and ability can become a knight, to become a knight is to dedicate their life in Service to the Queendom. They take orders from the Court, and hold true to the will of the Queen. Architects, Artisans, scholars, Leaders, warriors and mages are the usual crowds to receive knightship. Being a knight of the Realm, one earns a salary from the Crown, and may be assigned vassals, and earns the right of respect. They can even in the course of their service earn rights to land from the Queendom.
Some knights are granted the ability to establish an order. An order, tends to have a Knight-commander at its head, with some knights that once trained under them as squires, serving with them. Those knights take on Squires are apart of the order as well, as serve at the behest of the order and their knight. A squire often also leads a page or two who are hoping to one day rise to Squire. From a single Knight Commander to every page serving at the bottom are what make up a Order.
While there are a few ways to become a Knight, the most common being joining a Order of Knights, and serving as a Squire for a knight, and earning their nomination as well as a recommendation from a serving Court member. The Queen decides who is knighted, but rarely is she spontaneously driven to knight someone, as it’s usually an honor given to those who have already dedicated their life in service, and shown exceptional ability.
Vassals are temporary servants of the realm. They often serve under Royals, Marshals, Council members of the Court, or an order of Knights. Because of this station they are often fairly well taken care of financially via their benefactor, and are often considered on par with Soldiers who also are temporary servants of the realm, but instead serve as combatants under one of the Marshals of Thena. Anyone can end up a Vassal or Soldier, they need only be accepted by one of the benefactors listed above.   Plebeians are the common folk, who work licenced jobs with in the Queendom, not related directly to the Government or Defense of the nation. Your buisness owners, like inn and tavern owners, or an established Merchant. Those that work under Plebeians are still just considered peasants, but they do also play a integral part of the system, and make up the majority of the people living within Thena.   Feudal Caste system at a glance:
