Magical prejudice

Outside of particularly magically focused cultures, most view magic very suspiciously. Since the disappearance of Ionia, and the appearance of the massive crater centuries ago, common folk often distrust anything beyond simple magic. Some even refuse magical healing. Fire magic is the most commonly hated form of magic, as those with a bit more understanding still understand the unpredictable nature of Fire, and often it reminds people of the stories of Azar, the fire primordial who ruled this planet for almost 10,000 years.

Rarely are any laws actually passed against the study or use of magic on a national level, but many small towns have their own ordinances against certain magics in public. Magic users often learn to be discreet about magic use for these reasons, at least until the know the locals dispositions.

The Queendom of Thena is one of the more accepting communities, but that does not change the views of some individuals, especially those who migrate from other nations.

The Maslands Republic is well known for its stringent rules in the use and study of magic, often seen by many as tyrannical, but they and the people of that nation often see it as a necessary precaution.

By far the most accepting of magic is the Othalya river valley, with many of its peoples engaged in some form of magic. The Pirate Island Kingdom of Wheilor is without any regulations, though many of the people are apt to take action against dangerous magic use.
