Nature

Overview

Nature is the primordial force of earth, land and nature. She is the third of Void's offspring and in many ways her antithesis, but similarily to her she is often refered to as "Mother" and some of the oldest mythologies actually do not refer to Void and Nature as two different entities but say that Void became Nature after she had created Darkness and Light. She and Fire are rivals. She is the mother of Vyridian and Aerl by Harmony, Vestra and Tauron by Chaos, Harmilda by Life and Aldros by Fire.

Description

Nature is not known to have a physical form. When depicted in art or stories, she is most often shown as a big, old, magical tree or another kind of flora, ranging from flowers to mushrooms. She is one of the only Primordials that has a fixed gender in every version of the mythos.

History

Nature is the third offspring of Void, having come into the world to make the world and the sun and the stars and the comets in the sky. Light and Darkness did not create matter, they only gave it their properties. Nature truly is the Mother of everything. However, Nature is never depicted as demanding or yearning for power, instead she seems to be above such desires, as her whole focus is on the world she has made and the beauty of her world. All of her offspring show a strong connection to her including the domains of Nature & Joy, Sky & Wind, Storm & Clouds, Hunt & Wilderness, Strenght & Independence and Harvest & Hearth. Her children have created the races with the most obvious connections to her creations including the Faun, the Centaurs and the Halflings. Her granddaughters are the goddesses of Healing and Childbearing & Fertility.

Relevance

Like all Primordials, Nature is not actively involved in mortal affairs, nor is she revered or prayed to. There are no temples to Nature (there are temples to her son Vyridian, who is the God of Nature however), nor does any religion honour her specifically. She is accepted as a fundamental force of the universe. Nature is the most thanked and sacrificed to of the Primordials. She is the force that the mortals feel the most as the actions of her children are often led back to her. Faun hold festivals to ask Mother Nature to keep her children in line.
