Gazeranfolk

The people known as Gazeranfolk are a large number of clans claimed to be direct descendants of Gazezu's followers of the First Folk. They settle mostly in the Copperwynn region. From the perspective of most inhabitants of Caramiza, the Gazeranfolk are uneducated, wild and a collection of rebels and mercenaries.

Physical Traits

Gazeranfolk are known for their typically bulky stature, with strong jaws, dark hair, slightly olive skin tone, and wide frames. They are archetypical farmers, hard workers and hunters.   As they mostly grow up in a magically barren region, they do not grow as large and storng as they could. However, Gazerans that moved into more magically rich areas in young years demonstrated the innate ability to use the magical energy Myridis to enhance their grwoth and developement of muscles.

Oppression, Rumors and Prejudices

For generations, Gazeranfolk are mostly confined to in the area of Copperwynn. Due to most of their Copperbound Contract being held by either the government of Caramiza or Gunnard's Greens, they are not allowed to move outside the region.   All across of Caramiza, many prejudices are present towards Gazeranfolk. These are often based on well placed propaganda over many generations, even before the Shaman's Doomed Insurgence demonstrated the danger, Gazerans could present.
They are known to be uneducated, mostly by choice but to avoid unecessary danger, the management from Gunnard's Greens will only rarely permit any highe reducation.
Gazeran are aggressive, rude and quick to fight. When feeling insulted, they will start shouting or even growl right before they will physically attack you.

They have no respect towards marriage or monogamy. Neither men nor women will bind themselves to a partner and often cannot tell who the father of their many children is.
The Copperwynn Magic Drain was ultimately caused by the magical practices of their ancestors. Letting them settle outside of Copperwynn would cause those areas to lose magic as well.

Culture and Traditions

As a result of a past rebellion, the Shaman's Doomed Insurgence, the Gazeranfolk are indebted to the nation and have to work off large contracts, passed on to their descendents via copperbound contracts. Local administration provides them with basic needs and assigns them work as needed, in the process trying to subdue the long standing traditions of the culture. As such, Gazerns live in strictly administrated farming villages and have to fullfill strict workquotas   Most traditions and rituals of their culture are either forbidden or barely tolerated. Still there are many well known shamans the Taka Ma'rat being tolerated in among the Gazeranfolk. They keep the many traditions and memories of their people alive.
Gazeranfolk place high value in craftsmanship as well as a deep knowledge of nature, animal husbandry, survival and medicine. A skilled woodsman or weaver is as respected as a strong warrior. Technology and magic are not taboo but should always be used with care.
The unity of family and the survival of the clan are important. Any outside or inside force trying to harm the clan is dealt with by common decision. In serious cases this can lead to the expulsion of individuals of the clan.

The personal honor is important to any Gazeran. They love to boast and also love to tell stories about the danger of pride. There is no honor in hurting someone else, especially not for personal gain.
Hunting and Fighting are accepted ways of life - however any hunter or warrior will always attone for the lifes they had to take and honor their memory as best as they can. Old warriors often leave the clan, because they feel their connection to death would dishonor their loved ones at one point.
