The Iron Isle
Demographics
The majority of the population is made up of vect, though there are still a significant number of warforged who make their home here.
Government
The Iron Isle is ruled by its emperor, Metal Ox. Due to being the liberator of the vect, savior of the inventor of the warforged, and creator of the isle itself, Metal Ox's rule is undisputed. As a race of constructs, vect do not age and do not have children in the traditional sense. As such, there is no set heir to take the throne in the unlikely event that Metal Ox is slain.
Defences
The Iron Isle is well defended through a variety of means including vect and warforged soldiers, mage towers on the outskirts of the isle captained by evokers and backed by cannons crewed by skilled gunners, and the natural defense of floating some 2,000 feet in the air from the Khar-Garom. The large defense towers are simply slotted into sections of the isle and moved outwards as the isle expands further in order to continue to protect the outer borders.
Industry & Trade
The Iron Isle trades little, though they are known to export their arms and armor to those whose cause is desperate and just. They subsist mostly off of reparation tribute payments from Khar-Garom that come in the form of raw metals and coin.
Infrastructure
The entirety of the isle is industrialized. Vast construction works are always underway to build more foundries, forges, and expansions to the isle itself. Highly guarded teleportation circles allow visitors, trade, and tribute from Khar-Garom. In addition to all of this, the Iron Isle is home to an exclusive vect and warforged exclusive magic academy. It teaches gifted students how to harness their sorcerous or wizarding powers as well as the art of artificing.
Districts
There are no real districts of the Iron Isle. The center of the isle houses Metal Ox's palace, the Citadel of Steel, where the nobility and elite warriors, mages, and artificers make their home. The rest of the isle is filled with vast smithies and foundries where armor, weapons, and new citizens are created, along with basic housing for those who can afford it.
Guilds and Factions
Guilds of mages, artificers, and blacksmiths exist on the Iron Isle, though they all take direct orders from Metal Ox regarding production. Within the political sphere, there is one faction that seeks two goals. First, they desire to eliminate the inventor of the warforged because of his cruel way of creating the race, and second, they wish to have the warforged get their own land and kingdom to rule away from the vect. However, this faction seems to be very small and mostly unsuccessful in their efforts thus far.
History
The Iron Isle was created in Era 1, 1023 by Metal Ox. His loyal vect followers carved an island from the ocean to serve as the base of his grand vision. Afterwards, he quested to create a powerful magical orb that would serve as the 'heart' of the island and cause it to float into the sky. With that completed, he freed the vect race and took them to their new home on the Iron Isle. Over the centuries since their freedom, the vect have vastly exploded in terms of population and thus expanded the isle to become a massive, imposing chunk of flying iron.
Approximately 50 years after its creation, the Iron Isle was approached by the only remaining inventor of the warforged race. This gnome artificer-turned-warforged proposed a deal to Metal Ox. In return for sanctuary and status as a noble, he would reveal the secret of creating warforged to him. Metal Ox accepted without a second thought, much to his old ally Estok's dismay. And so began the creation of warforged and the cultural melding of warforged and vect.
Architecture
The entirety of the Iron Isle is built from iron and steel.
