Within the
Auskerian Empire the Imperial Senate is responsible for both the judicial and legislative. The senate is make up of four factions, including the Warrior, Worker, Merchant, and Mage Guild's and a number of smaller factions that make up the various states that reside within the Empire. Lords assign a senator that goes in their place to the Imperial Senate, while the King oversees all meetings and enacts formal legislation, but final authority falls upon the Empress.
The Empress and the Imperial Army maintain the highest amount of authority within the Senate, this is largely due to the Empire being almost surrounded and constantly under-siege by their enemies, enemies that will not accept surrender or defeat but instead complete annihilation.
Warriors Guild
The Warrior's Guild is a similar in respects for the Imperial Army except that it is comprised of people who wish to be more independant and not have to follow Imperial Army rules. In other words, it's a guild of warriors or adventurers. The Warrior's Guild is small but contains some of the strongest people within the Empire, for this they actually have quite a bit of influence. Whereas the imperail army is responsible for protecting the Kingdom from outside invaders, the Warriors Guild is responsible for protecting the Empire from within, including hunting
Daemon's or anything else that threatens the land.
Workers Guild
Anyone who works within the Empire is a member of this guild, it is a requirement, as the guild protects these workers from potential harm from nobility and helps to draw up laws that protect said workers from harsh working conditions. The Worker's Guild has the largest number of members out of any of the other factions within the Senate.
Merchant Guild
This guild oversees all trade within the Empire, they help to negotiate with foreign nations and also help to set laws that govern trade. Their primary goal is to ensure that the Empire is not taken advantage of by others in times of strife. Their numbers are small but they have some of the smartest people in finance.
Mage's Guild
Arguably the most powerful, even in terms of the Imperial Army, the Mage's Guild represents all of the
Aurelian Mage's that reside within the Empire. Unlike other guilds, who have charters that forbid their members from being apart of other guilds, the Mage's Guild is different. It allows all mages to be part of multiple guilds. Because of this, the Mage's Guild has abdicated it's authority to the Empress.
Senate Building
The Senate Building, where the Senate convenes once every week, or even several times a week depending on circumstances; it located within the capital city. Unlike the imperial senates found in other countries, this one wasn't built to be imposing but rather it was made for function over form. This means that the building is small in comparison, has a rather unsightly look to anyone on the outside, and has only what is needed for the Senate to function.
What is lacks however in appearance, it makes up for in other avenues. The external appearance of the Senate building has statues that show the previous leaders of the Empire, along with famous people. At the time time, the top of the structure is reinforced with armored plating to protect it from sieges. Due to it's size, it isn't suitable as a sanctuary from attack, instead the floor can be opened to reveal a stairwell down into the cities vast catacombs where the leadership and civilians may ride out a siege.
