Lingua Latina

Stiff and harsh in its supposed tone, yet capable of expressing amazingly complex contexts with a few words due to intricately complex grammar, the Lingua Latina is the government official language of the Vatican; the underground realm of the Crimson Empire's church and its spiritual spiritual leaders, also known as the Black Triumvirate. The infamous scriptura of Crimson religion and beliefs, simply called 'The Book' by its worshippers, is entirely written in this occult language.   The Crimson military appropriated a slightly varied version of the Lingua Latina to use it as a code language to ward off military communication from Alliance Spies; but it isn't commonly used out of any non-clerical purpose in the Crimson Empire.   Names of Latinan origin are a privilege of Patrician families in the Crimson Empire; but are very uncommon in Plebeian milieu. Plebs name their children after Archons for protection, but without any knowledge of the Lingua Latina, OR the right to actually namesake one of the patrician's ancestors directly; so they add Itaavian suffixes meaning 'bless' or 'ward' - completely altering the original meaning of the names in a way that comes across as crude to people knowledgeable of the Lingua Latina. Or give them more common names, based on Itaavi or their own cultural heritage. The people in the Crimson Empire are as colorful as the provinces; and so are their names. Most names associated with the Book are the names of legendary heroes or saints or even Samael's closest circle of apostles, worshipped as demi-gods; the Archons, so the upper class influential patrician families tracing back their bloodlines to some of these very saints commonly baptize their offspring in sacred rituals, ordaining them with meaningful names of Latinian origin and loaded with context.

The origin of this language is definitely pre-Conception Maculata - a word that was borrowed from the very Liber Unicus itself and is actually a Latinan word. It translates to 'unholy' or 'unclean' conception and references a paragraph in the Book speaking of the act of creation involving Lilith being raped by Adam and then, in spite, offering her body freely to have sexual intercourse with all the demons in Samael's flock to mix and mingle their seed with that of man inside her. Lilith then became the Mother of Demons worshipped in the Crimson core religion as a sacred parental figure next to Their Majesty the Lightbringer Themselves.   Texts written in this strangely dry, yet comprehensive tongue have been found in many bunkers all over the known world; yet, only the Red seem to have evolved into adapting and deciphering it to full extent. It seems odd, as their temper and passion as well as Itaavi, the contemporary modern tongue of the Crimson Empire, is very fluid and differs from the Lingua Latina's proposed pronunciation. Itaavi contains a plethora of interesting vowels and rolling consonants, issued with a pattern of magnificent ups and downs in tone and voice. Lingua Latina seems structured and logical to them, despite the differences to their spoken heritage. But if you look closely at Itaavi, knowing both languages well, you can spot the correlation. Lingua Latina with its rigid and complex grammar rules and layered syntax, relying on conjugations and knowing many different cases of declinations.   Other nations have tried to decipher olde world texts written in Lingua Latina and have failed - which the Red believe to be some kind of a holy intervention of Samael the Lightbringer Themselves. The reality is probably a little less mystic; yet they aren't completely wrong: The Book is a comprehensive body of work, supposedly containing everything you need to decipher the language if you have a decent translation, yet The Book is forbidden to ever be translated in other languages. Priests and clerics are like mediums, speaking truths from The Book in the manner of fables, poems and verses, but they are never direct quotations. Every sermon that's written down is again an interpretation of the priest in question and never a direct translation of a text in The Book. The clerus in the Vatican studying the holy scriptura contains almost exclusively of Undead priests who teach the language to living disciples in complex, year-long rituals, confining the students to living in the Undercity, Roma AEterna's great Necropolis, for that time. So it is extremely difficult to find a copy of The Book that comes with any kind of indication as to what the individual letters, words and phrases to translate to.
