Queen Brynhildr Isøks

Snowqueen Brynhildr Isøks (a.k.a. Mother Ursa)

In The Elemental Plane there exists four kingdoms, one for each of the cardinal elements. However, for years The Kingdom of Silver Waters was in a civil war between the surface, snow and ice powered Genasi , and the ocean Genasi of water and Seafoam. This was mainly over resources, each side vying for the Heart of the Progenitor to increase the landmass of frozen fields of snow or cold deep water respectively. But, in the material realm year of 978 AC, the two sides would cease their war when the two heirs apparent for each side, Brynhildr Isøks for the surface and Rudr Sjøsprøyt for the water, joined together in political and romantic union, ushering in the current era of peace between the two realms, which served to expand their control as well as beat back the invaders from the other countries who had been making use of their struggle.   As an individual, Brynhildr is the definition of a Gentle Giant. She's massive in terms of Genasi and isn't shy about using her strength to meet her ends, but she's also a delicate and thoughtful person, using said strength to clear passageways and create rather than destroy. Despite being not as academic as some of her predecessors, she's extremely knowledgeable about agriculture and is beginning to understand underwater farming with the help of her wife.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Brynhildr is a large and muscular powerhouse, with a gaze like ice and a presence like winter itself, but beneath that lies the gentle heart of a ruler bent on peace and peace alone.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

The surface isn't a bad place to live. Snow plants give sustenance, and if your family has been there long enough, chances are you're prepared to handle it better than others would be. However, it's still a harsh and potentially brutal place to live if left in the wrong hands, where the wind will howl your death knell, and beasts will take any chance to rip you apart.   When Brynhildr was born, it was not in the right hands. The then-king, a distant relative by the name of Jerv the Permafrost had the nation fully embroiled in the heat of war between the surface and the sea, leaving the actual people of the land to suffer and be ill-prepared for the challenges that faced them. If you weren't a warrior, weren't a soldier, weren't loyal to Jerv, you were nothing and deserved nothing.   This is what Brynhildr used to believe, along with the rest of the anti-ocean propaganda lobbed her way by the king's regime. Especially when she ended up losing family member after family member to the gluttonous king's poor excuse for tactics, and she found herself within his court. She grew, she trained, and in some areas she learned, but she became a powerful and frightening wall of a warrior nonetheless.   But everything would change when the princess of the ocean realm, Rudr Sjøsprøyt would attempt to parley with Jerv for the sake of peace and got ambushed and jailed for her efforts. As fate would have it, the one that Jerv trusted to guard her cage was the relative he had seen grown the strongest, Brynhildr. For the first two days, all had proceeded as normal, and Rudr kept up her face of regal indifference.   But on the third day, everything had set in, and Rudr began to cry. Cry for herself, cry for the attendants who had died, cry for her parents who were already at a disadvantaged position in the war, and cried for the future of both groups of people. This shocked Brynhildr, and out of instinctive emotions, tried to assure Rudr that at most she'd be a bargaining chip, she wouldn't be executed. But that wasn't the princess's biggest worry, and her own occasionally bad habit of oversharing benefitted her in this case, as Brynhildr suddenly realized that what she had been told was false, for the most part.   The surface world had suffered greatly to the sea, that was true, but the inverse was correct as well, and the two parts of the Silver Waters needed to be unified before everything was lost.   It was then that Brynhildr decided that she needed to use her strength to do good, to till the broken and rotted dirt to allow fresh nutrients to rise and allow food to grow, as she understood it.   Using her superior rank, she snuck Rudr out of the castle, and with the aid of rebellious peasantry, got her back into the waters. She told Rudr to come to the coast in 30 days, and that she'd be waiting.   Immediately, Brynhildr got to work. She began her tilling by going after Jerv directly and vowed to defeat him in single combat. Jerv tried to dissuade Brynhildr, claiming that Rudr was intentionally muddying her mind, but Jerv's own cruelty wouldn't have brought the princess back if that was slightly true.   The combat did not take long, and while Jerv was strong, Brynhildr was stronger, and his death was certain, cleaved in half by her axe. At his death, a rebellion broke loose. Warmongers vs peacemakers, those tired of war vs those wishing for glory, brutal traditionalists vs tired modernists.    After 30 days, when Rudr and a protective group of knights came to the shore, Brynhildr was there as promised, and bowed to the princess, vowing that the surface would not be at war any further. The ocean princess was surprised that she had kept her promise and the fact that she had brought more than 100 knights to vow the same thing, beginning a new era for both people.   It would take 2 years to fully quell the flames of war on both sides, but in those two years the two women grew closer and closer, finding more to admire in one another in conversations, and by the time the people were ready for unity on both sides, so too were they, and the day the Silver Waters became one kingdom was the day they married one another as well.   In the 30 years since that day, life has proceeded as normal for the two of them, with the exception of an incident with Vampires...

Gender Identity

Brynhildr identifies as female but doesn't care much for traditional forms of femininity for herself.

Sexuality

Brynhildr is a lesbian, although she didn't know the term existed until after she had gotten married to her wife.

Education

Brynhildr was trained in the arts of war and combat, but very little else outside of what was necessary for practical life. Even then, some of the harder subjects couldn't land within her mind, such as mathematics or alchemy. However, one area in which she excelled was understanding agriculture and farming, with a hint of botany as well.

Employment

After being taken into Jerv's court, Brynhildr was trained as a warrior and worked as such until the time came for her to take the throne.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Brynhildr successfully led a coup against King Jerv in order to stop the senseless death of both Surface and Sea citizens of the Silver Waters. After this, her biggest accomplishments are revitalizing the agricultural fields of the surface realms populace and marrying Queen Rudr, her lovely wife.

Mental Trauma

Brynhildr was subject to the brunt force of surface kingdom propaganda in her younger years, and sometimes those kneejerk fears still rear their ugly head in less focused moments.   She is also shaken by the time when a Vampire made its way into the plane and kidnapped Rudr for cruel experimentation, making her deeply protective of her wife.

Intellectual Characteristics

Brynhildr has a knack for analyzing the quality of the land at a glance or a touch, and similarly has a good sense for a person's true nature in the same vein, but she's most intelligent and crafty when leading a defensive battle. Her intense care for the lives of her men and knowledge of the land has been the saving grace in many battles in her reign as queen.
