Dol Cadarn
"Sun-untouched, we live by the beat of our hearts, and we always know the right direction by following where it guides us." - popular dwarven sayingDol Cadarn is the largest and most powerful dwarven stronghold on Echora and - per dwarven tradition - as such serves as the capital of the High Kingdom of the Dwarves. The fortress that lies deep under the mountains and glaciers of The Morcannaid Massif has been the uncontested seat of the High King of the Dwarves for centuries. In fact, the title has only switched hands to other strongholds a handful of times in all of recorded history. The position of capital of all dwarven kingdoms comes with many more responsibilities and costs than it offers prestige. The dwaves chose the practice of fashioning their most impressive stronghold as the capital of a High Kingdom to be able to always present a strong united front and a powerful image. For this reason, foreign dignitaries and powerful organisations will always be hosted in Dol Cadarn to show off the peak of dwarven might.
Geography
Dol cadarn lies in the west of Valorden and as part of the The Morcannaid Massif is part of its border to the Alesian Empire.
Naming
The Dwarves have very specific naming traditions for their settlement. The Prefix "Dol" is specifically reserved fot the seat of the High King of the Dwarves. If the current King should ever lose this status but would still remain a lesser king under a new High King, the settlement would be therafter referred to as Kal Cadarn.
