Introduction:

Humans are a humanoid mammalian species and the founding species of the United Federation of Humanity, native to a forgotten planet. They are a resourceful species that can be found all over the Founder Galaxy, despite their relatively recent rough start.
Scientific Name: Homo sapiens

Appearance:

Humans are usually 4.5-6.5 feet tall, with a variety of skin and hair colors. They have little body hair, with most of the hair on their bodies concentrated on their head.
Humans look incredibly similar to Lashunta. This is not a coincidence, as humans and lashunta are closely genetically related. Their most recent common ancesor Homo divergus lived over 900,000 years ago, giving time for humans and lashunta to diverge into seperate species by the time each were encountered by civilization in the galaxy.
While there is racial variation within the human species, no race has any physical or mental differences from each other, apart from star-touched humans. Approximately 7% of humans are star-touched, with less appearing each generation due to star-touched genes being dispersed across the human population. Star-touched usually have skin tones ranging from pink to light brown, with long pointed ears and glowing eyes. These humans have a significantly longer lifespan, usually 700-100 years. Some star-touched also exhibit a natural affinity to magic, something very rarely seen across sapient species.

Lifestyle:

Humans are omnivores and can eat nearly any food offered across the galaxy. Their natural diet consists of vertebrate meat and plant matter, although other forms of food can be ingested to a lesser degree of nutritional effectiveness.
Humans usually live in communities, either with other humans or a wide variety of species. As highly social creatures, humans thrive with other social species like Dilug. Lone humans are uncommon, but can usually be observed on most population centers.
While they are concentrated in the UFH, humans can be found in the Illithid-Dilug Intergalactic Empire of New Rocheron as well, being found on nearly every densly populated planet. Humans are able to adapt well to foreign environments, allowing them to settle nearly all habitable planets with little issue.

Unless you're a lizard in a skin suit, you're a human. Since you (probably) know what being a human is like, the following points are purely cultural for this setting.
As a person with free will, your character can act and think in any way you want them to. If you want them to follow the norm for a human, take the following into consideration:
-Many humans in the empire resent humans in the federation and vice versa due to the two power's feud. This divide can affect split families and drive friends apart.
-Humans are naturally drawn towards social creatures like dilug and Lashunta, and may feel out of place in the company of solitary creatures like Korrax.
