Psion

Written by Salen

During The Great War , the Humans and Elves put their greatest minds together and came up with an idea to battle the dwarven Clockwork Assassin. They took the magic of the elves and mixed it with the prayers of the human priests, creating the Psions; people that could use their minds instead of elements or the Gods to work wonders.

The Process

The elves used their blood and mixed it with holy water, blessed by the Priests. This was then injected into the subject as they worked a great spell of ether, transforming the person on the deepest level, matching the new blood in them. The humans cast a blessing of the Gods on them (different Gods were called upon, only Syll, Goddess of Magic & Nature  and Krist, God of Death & Corruption  seemed to allow the magic to be used) and after a day, the subject awoke with varying abilities at different strengths.

Inherent Power

The Psions that were created this way were changed on a genetic level, though they were still elven, or human, (or in some cases in later years dwarven and half-elven) they were also a Psion. This could be passed through birth to the offspring with a 50% chance of gaining the parents abilities, and a 75% chance of gaining both sets if both were Psions.

History

Unfortunately, the Psions were seen as property; told what to do and who to kill. After many years of what can only be called slavery, the Psions rebelled and lashed out. They sent their three most powerful gifted with a contingent of elves, led by the infamous Archmagus, Salen Valari . They were stationed at the village of Albrook and in the night, while the elves and human warriors were resting, killed as many of them as they could before being taken down themselves. Their intent made clear, the Psions fought back and fled, declaring their independence and clear resolve to fight any who came against them.

Hunted and Feared

The violence caused by the rebellion spread by word of mouth through every city and within a year the fear and hatred for the Psions was voiced loud and clear. The Great War was still dragging on, and without the only weapon that was effective against the Clockwork assassins, they were solrely pressed. The majority of the people feared that the psions would turn on them in the night and many build barricades and locked themselves away. The elves created spells to combat the Psions and hunted them down as the war raged on, chasing them and slaying them outright.

A New Breed

This is when the Psions, now decades old with their own offspring and new powers, decided to recreate the process, experimenting on captured dwarven warriors. The Clockwork assassins had rebelled as well, and the heat was off the Psions for now, so after a short two years, the first dwarven Psions were made. This is the turning point for them, as the people found out that they could make new "weapons", so the hunt effort was doubled. Pushed and slain out of hand, the remaining Psions went underground, literally.

Hidden Away

At the end of the war, the dwarven Psions that remained fled to the Nation of Nagar . They begged for asylum, pledging their life to the Stone Throne, and the King kept them to it, hiding them away from the world. In the West, the elven and human Psions that were left went under the Forest of S'ren , deep into the forest caves that they had found and hid, blending in with society after awhile and living among the others without them knowing it.

Powers

Psions can have different abilities, ranging from mind reading to mental blasts. These individual powers come in two groups; minor and major. If a Psion has a minor power, he cannot also have it as a major; it's one or the other. The following is a short list of known powers that have been recorded at one time or another:

Hidden in Plain Sight

Psions do not look any different than any other person. They can be any race and do not have a certain look. The only identifying pattern that they display is possibly an odd sense of things and seeing things that others don't on occasion.
