The Common Pantheon

A Divine Assortment

The Common Pantheon is composed of an assortment of deities with differing origins but they are the most widely worshiped across the world. Many of the following deities have variations in name and personality across cultures. This page represents what wider (largely human) society believes these beings to be. For deities originating in other pantheons it could be helpful to see how their origin society views them by visiting that pantheon's page. There may be changes to portfolio, domain, and alignment. Most originate in The Elvish Pantheon or The Draconic Pantheon.

The Human Pantheon

The Common Pantheon is often considered the Human Pantheon, but this is inaccurate. Deities in the common pantheon are worshiped by folks from all walks of life. It gets this reputation because most humans do worship from this list and almost half of the list are deities that originate in human cultures. The majority of this pantheon does still have their origins in other racial pantheons- especially the draconic and elvish ones. Of course, humans found their own ways to worship these nonhuman gods and over time molded them to fit in with their cultures- even changing their origin myths and altering their personalities. Whereas the majority of deities from the draconic and elvish pantheons are akin to neutral bystanders in those societies, most humans see these deities to be on the side of good and for the benefit of civilized people. Human myth does not typically subscribe to the belief in divine bloodlines and families as the dragons and dwarves do, seeing these higher powers as above and beyond flesh and blood. They also do not subscribe to the idea of the ascension of mortals to into godhood in the way elves and halflings do.   In larger human societies like that of Marasen, Kardath, and Belstrad, most deities in this pantheon have a symbolic plant, flower, or tree which is used to adorn and perfume their altars and identify that god’s influence. They also often have secondary symbols relevant to their myths, personality or interests. Some human cultures, particularly in the far west and in Namiza, have attempted to create a system of universal sigils to signify the gods of the Common Pantheon, often pulling from established symbolism in other cultures, but these sigils are not universally known or accepted just yet.   If there is such a thing as a truly "Human Pantheon" It would only consist of 11 deities: Ghoeth, Tirias, Helora, Hallar, Tulmar, Dathira, Medeh, Oranah, Khalil, Bhagra, and Aleth.
Religious Discordecausetruth about them, what they actually stand for, where they really came from, and the proper method of worship. The gods are not by any means knowable and most "facts" about them, including even their real names or what they look like, are taken on faith alone as declared by their most devout.
