History of Aurelia

During the wars of expansion Auren came upon a small merchant peoples to the north and their leader Imreas, seeing that the gods favored Auren, pledged his loyalty to the Divine Founder.

Auren was getting old, but he wanted there to be a way for his people to connect to the gods that had delivered into their hands them the nations around them. He created the chantry and wrote Auren's Code.

The gods loved Auren too much to see him dragged to the underworld by the demon queen of death and so the gods granted him divinity. Dagda claimed his soul, as he was the creator of man, and so Auren went to serve at the side of the god for eternity.

Aurelia had prospered under Alerian, but he yearned to expand the power and influence of his kingdom, and so the second war of expansion began.

Alerian conquered the lands from the Rulian to the western shores of Dagadae.

The sons of Alerian both claimed the throne of Aurelia and a war between the two factions followed.

Atreus fled to the Talun forest and on the banks of Duran Lake he established a small military town of his soldiers and their families.

After much communication and cultural exchange with the tribes in the forest, the people there pledged loyalty to King Atreus and asked to join the Aurelian Kingdom.

Imras was born to Hesta, wife of Remus.

The despised despot Remus the Savage came to power. He is said to have challenged the trickster goddess Izukah to a game of wits and after he was defeated she cursed him with madness.

Imras the Ruthless is crowned king.

Imras, out of fear of assassination, purged all the major noble houses in Aurelia and established the court of seven noble houses.

Imras had killed his own children out of paranoia and so his brother became king upon his death

King Dardan decided that magic was far too powerful to be allowed to run free unchecked. All magicians were required to register with the local branch of the ministry of magic and have papers proving their registration with them at all times.

Arathas became king of Aurelia

The King initiated trade talks between the representative from the Thanoran Theocracy and the head of the Fercwin household

Previously, the country of Aurelia had been a human kingdom exclusively, but through the interaction with the Thanorus Theocracy the king seeks out new powers and technologies from other countries.

Atrea, the great priestess, was given revelations by the gods as to the truth of the divine beings. She wrote a complete history of the gods and shaped modern Aurelian paganism.

It is discovered that the Thanoran Theocracy worships the Devil Triumdeorate as supreme deities above all others.

Ardredi is crowned king, and promises to continue the holy war of his father against the heretics.

During the Sack of Reme the king was killed in battle upon the walls of the city.

Since the prince was too young to take power a stewart was appointed from the noble house of Brytred to hold power until Atreus I could take power.

The territory east of the Rulian River was abandoned to shore up defenses and prepare for a counter attack.

King Alerian II vows to defeat the Thanorus Theocracy at all cost.

The death of the Reclaimer. He died of medical complication, but was the most successful and beloved in king in two generations.

The years following the Battle of Thanoran Extinction .

Blood magic outlawed and Salray the Elder disappeared. After he disappeared the 50 mages he had taught were found killed over the following weeks.

The king that led Aurelia to victory in the tail end of The War of Revelation died peacefully in his sleep.

Noromaeni assassins, bitter with loss of the 6 years war, sent an assassin dressed as a concubine and the king was stabbed to death in his bedchambers.

A period of relative peace and prosperity in the Aurelian Kingdom. The nation began to return to martial and economic prominence on Dagadae and would become a much bigger player on the continental stage for the next century.

King Rocand was a kind, albeit passive king, who maintained the nation and added little to it.

He died, very old and very drunk, having accomplished little in his kingship.

King Oren led the legions in a decisive battle against the Noromaeni military, dealing it a crippling blow that it has yet to recover from. This decisive battle ended hostility between the two nations and the Noromaeni territory south of the Rhaesa River.

The wilds east of the Rulian and North of the Rheasa, land that had been left infested by monsters and poisoned by magic since the Battle of Thanoran Extinction was brought mostly under the heel of Aurelian military supremacy.

The power of the Aurelian military had expanded to the point where conscription was no longer necessary. King Oren, in his final act as king before his death, repealed the law.

Oren II was crowned and vowed to explore the world and expand Aurelian influence to ancient contacts with other tribes across the Byrion Ocean.

His illustrious highness was given kingship over us on this day.

The rebel leader, Pertia, was finally found and publicly executed in Flurean.

The Lacrimonic Plague broke out in Imre, just one year ago, and is currently being dealt with by the Noble Lord Regent of the city.

The infamous assassin group, Order of the Black Sun, attempted to stage a coup against the Aurelian King Rocan Aurel. The assassins successfully infiltrated the palace, killing most of the royal legion present. The king was saved by Commandant Noral Acthured, who was visiting the king at the time, and several of his elite guards from one of his legions. The criminal leader of the guild, Shaden, was apprehended and thrown in the dungeons of the palace in Flurean under heavy guard.

Noral Acthured brings forth evidence that the royal family was worshiping Devil Triumdeorate and practicing blood magic on their servants. He has this information disseminated throughout Aurelia and claims that the line of Aurel has lost their divine right to rule bestowed by Dagda onto the Divine Founder.

Loyalists declare the founding of the Imperium to be a heretical and illegal act. House Sylwulf, Acthured, Brytred, and Fercwin swear loyalty to the emperor and join the Imperium. House Aurel and Sigfortin stay loyal to the crown.
