Session 106

General Summary

Gathering Allies

After hatching a plan, the Deep End implores Hornbeak to ask the Lady of Winter to send a wintery gale to bring the Moon Guard to the battle. Hornbeak agrees. Ghilani takes the Diving Board to Elios to pick up the Elian Hunters, finding Altan and Elis prepared to fight, Jhaxton among them, and Rowbyn sharpening Villám into arrowheads. Leading them is Rhovahk... who glowed a bit more than last time.
At the command tent, Rani insquired about when the Barrier will break. Valdove directed her to his research team, which is monitoring it closely. Declan informed the High Lord that he... may have or may not have really pissed off the Doctor. Are the White Masks here? Valdove is a bit irked that he does not have the front line he envisioned, but will make do with Ragnar. Speaking of, Declan finds the still mutated monstrosity of a man overlooking the campsite. Specifically, looking at the Acolytes. Even more specifically, looking at... Oksha. Seeing his daughter happy, Ragnar is content to die defending her future and the future of the continent.
Newt, meanwhile, found Oksha amidst the Acolytes. They are preparing to handle the inevitable casualties that will arise from this fight. Though, it is really poor timing. Ah'Shal just received so many souls; so let's keep as many people from dying as possible, okay? Newt assures Oksha that "Safety" is his middle name. Oksha does not seem convinced.
In the afternoon, a shadow passes overhead as a large teal dragon lands and allows three people to dismount: Rayen (looking digruntled), Azrail (looking thrilled), and Mary (looking pleased). Ismera then dons human guise once more before announcing the arrival of Carmenthia's champion. Mary seems far more open about her association currently and seems happy to use the fight to also "ruffle some political feathers". Ismera has no idea what to do with themselves and are pleased to fall in with familiar company. They are happy to see that Ghilani didn't die (though did suggest a book on Sending Etiquette).  Ghilani had to then drag Ismera out from instinctively hiding when two larger shadows flew over head. Philphrosyne brings the High Oracle of Caliban: Yue. The younger, but still imposing, Auriga, mentioned that he is happy to carry The Deep End again – especially Moira – should it be required in the battle to come.
In the distance, an alarm sounds. Shouts and calls can be heard from the coastline. The silhouettes of Ironborn’s ships suddenly begin to jolt forward and rotate, clearing space… right before a gush of water and a massive wave come crashing through. Atop that wave, you see a myriad of vaguely familiar ships with people – no more than specks at a distance – holding onto railings for dear life. Following the larger naval forces flying the flag of a merfolk, you see a set of more passenger-type boats, flying a flag of black and white. As the waters settle, the newly arrived Bay Guard creates a path for the passenger ships to move towards the shore. Before the ships arrive, however, a single individual emerges from the water, sauntering up the shore. Various fins protrude from around her hips and her forearms. Portions of her body are covered in scales. Long navy-blue hair is the only thing covering her bare chest. With a grin, she makes her way through the camp as if she belongs, paying no mind to the stares and looks she receives. Chaos ripples from her form. The Champions exude power, but the difference could not be more clear… Varoona has come to fight herself.
Clearly, the Lady of the Sea is most equipped to fight this battle, but her enthusiasm falters slightly. When pressed, Varoona explained:
My memories... they are still not whole, but I have recovered some pieces. I... am not the only Goddess of the Sea. It is my kin we will face... or what remains of them. I will... I must rise to meet them.
Upon her arrival with the Bay Guard, Hithvessa is quick to establish herself as a capable military leader, before she drifts to the edge of camp to look out over the waters. Newt apologizes for bringing her into another battle. Hithvessa informed him that there is no need. This world, as little as she has seen, is worth fighting for. A final fight to earn their chance to finally live again. Atu has never lost a battle and neither will she. Hithvessa seems quite open to the idea of moving to this "new golden city" just waiting for them. She, of course, is happy to advise Newt. Once this battle is done, she and her people may never be able to go back to how they once were, but they will finally have a chance to carve out a new life for themselves.
As the sun begins to set, the Moon Guard finally arrives, led by a battered and battle-damaged Bronze Queen. Behind the largest naval force on the continent, a naval amalgamation emerges from mist and fog: The Floating Tit. Rani gets a party going with the Bhediya and man are quick to fall into the swing and call of music. Declan attempts to get Artemilla to dance, but they don't seem particularly interested prior to a battle. Ismera and Ghilani acquire a drum to play as they people watch off to the side. And then there is a crack... and an unknown wail echoes from beyond. The Barrier is falling.
Rani sends Ezra off to war with a kiss and some inspiration! Newt finds Oksha, gives her a hug and a kiss, and promises his safe return. He then informs Volo that she BETTER survive. Volo has nothing better to do. As Ismera prepares to return to dragon form, Ghilani kisses them and informs them they need to have a LONG talk aftewards so don't die. Ismera has never been a darker shade of teal as they return to draconic form. Declan is upset that he isn't sending ANYONE off to war! It's just him! He settles for butt grabs.
As the Barrier falls, mutilated humanoids with lifeless eyes swarm their targets... craving destruction. And in the sky, the faintest outline of a Temple. The One is watching.

The Darkness-Shrouded, Fear-Inducing Deity

The water churns and rolls, the darkest and largest shadow rising to the surface. The creature that emerges has skin so dark it may be composed of the night itself… or perhaps the depths of the sea. With a slow lethargic blink, a set of two eyes open, followed by a series of six additional, smaller eyes. The primary eyes glow – it is both inviting and enticing… and terrifying and gut-wrenching. A long, muscled neck supports the massive head, with strong, bulky jaw filled with thin, razor-like teeth. The Bronze Queen could easily sail down this creature’s gullet. Water rolls and breaks nearby as writhing tentacles, barbed and sharp, rise from the depth. The shadow of a massive tail lurking beyond. As cries of fear and surprise ring up… the creature seems to grin.

The Corrupted Sea Deities

The water churns and rolls, as a jagged silhouette rises. A sheer, dark surface – covered in coral, rock, barnacles, and algae, breaks the surface first. Spikes and spines run along the back and along the edge; a sturdy carapace that seems as thick as the walls of a city. As it rises further, the carapace protrudes and sharpens to an imposing point like the battering ram of a ship. Lurking beneath, a series of glowing eyes blink and shift. As it goes to dive back beneath the waves, the rest of its body emerges as the carapace sinks. It’s thorax is covered in chitinous plates that allow it and it’s many, many legs to move. Despite its bulk, you watch as the shadow moves fast… towards your allies.

The water churns and rolls as a blocky, dark silhouette rises. Ice crystals break the water first – like a glacier rising from the depths. Within the frozen, crystalline glacier are thousands of eyes, blinking and scanning the surroundings rapidly, despite being buried and frozen within the thick ice. The glacier continues to rise and the silhouette takes a more defined shape. A whale-like creature – with skin so frozen and blue you question how it moves – sends waves rolling as it settles on the surface, releases a jet of frozen water into the air. Its massive fins are encased in sharped ice. The water around it begins to slow in its churning, freezing rapidly in front of your eyes. If there is a mouth or other features… it is impossible to tell underneath the icy encasing.

The water churns and rolls and even before the creature breaches the surface, you can see it’s silhouette and the barbs, fins, and frills drifting off it as charges of electricity crackle across its form intermittently. A massive head – a mixture of draconic and eel – breaks the surface. Its face is flanked by colorful frills that crackle and snap with electric charge. Its eyes glow as it eagerly scans the battle before it – delighted by what it finds… eager for more. As it almost grins, it’s mouth is full of thin almost snake-like teeth, saliva dripping down its jaw. It is excited. Thrilled. Waves roll and break over the massive serpentine body, covered in scales and protected by barbs. Large fins propel it forward as it surges into the fray.
