The Eternal Oracle
At the center of everything is a silver-haired khalashtar woman. Dysis was born in the mountains of Caliban, bound in servitude to the Red Dragon Clan – a prize due to her race. Yet, when her prophetic abilities manifested, not even the Red Maw could refuse the God of Fate – supported by 4 mighty Greatwyrms – when he demanded she be relinquished to his service. Her fate was to be an Oracle and then to be the High Oracle, one with the greatest gift of prophecy every known, according to the God of Fate himself. Yet, even the most powerful Oracles are blind to their own path. She crossed the continent, commissioned swords, made a friend of a Bhediya woman named Soyolmaa, and entered the service of the God of Fortune, Judas.
Until now, all that survived of her legacy was a journal. Her diary revealed that she harbored no love for Judas... at least not the romantic kind or what would be expected of a Beloved. Still, she and Judas found common ground – sough to uncover history and entertain question of the Barrier. All was pleasant, until another joined... The Void. The past was forgotten in favor of the future. Destruction was inevitable. A board without players. The prophetic game is not one that just anyone can play, but even those who sit at the board often fail to master it. For there are rules to uncover... and the enemy plays without remorse or feeling, only for their own entertainment.
Near the end of her "life", Dysis was only the title she carried. The burdens she took on because of her gifts – her fate, her mastery of the red thread – relegated her to a prized piece who could not afford to falter. Her passions were forgotten as war raged. She pushed her body to the brink in any and every attempt to find that hidden piece, that bit of information, that would illuminate the path forward. In the end, she was resolved. She found what she needed... and she made a sacrifice.
