Additional Information

Uses, Products & Exploitation

The Útels of Ela'k Forest, especially Veans and Þandans, harvest a great number of velí caterpillars for food. After removing the innards, the caterpillars are usually either smoked and served with onions and spices, or sun-dried and wrapped in vine leaves along with grape must.
The taste is commonly likened to that of fried, honey-glazed Ykan Birds.
