In which Marble gets a foot scrub and develops a man-crush Report
General Summary
As our heroes return to Darknook their return does not go unnoticed, and a steady stream of well-wishers rush to meet them. The flood begins with a solitary hawk that drops a rabbit from the sky as an offering to Alok Ravaralei, who has been expecting something of the sort. After a moment of avian etiquette confusion, resolved by a quick spell from Mehmen Ashid, the bonding between Alok and his hawk, Striker is complete and our ranger has his first companion.
There is a less welcome greeting awaiting the group at Mehmen's house as the oily Croke Gerrynd, proprietor of Gerrynd’s Most Efficacious Mineral Spa attempts to woo one of the newly minted heroes into running against Abet in the mayoral race. He is aiming to find a candidate who can repeal the contentious Darknook Geothermal Ordinance which forbids any more bores be sunk within the Darknook municipality. Apparently, the bores often attract malevolent steam creatures and Abet has deemed the risk too great. Despite the offer of 3 trips to his spa and a complimentary mineral foot scrub, the heroes demur and want nothing more than a good meal. So they head for the triumphant king. on the way there they meet a distraught Dorb, who provides ample evidence how quickly the Darknook rumour mill operates. He believes that one of the heroes will enter the mayoral race and, if elected, disband the town guard putting Dorb out of a job. Dorb is also convinced that Striker is actually Badalona Ailendogs, transformed into a bird by malicious dark magic. The welcome does not finish there and Abet meets the party at the door of the king to hand them their reward and to gift them with the farmhouse of the Griffurd Family, one of the families of cultists that fled overnight. They are also visited by one of the Inglenook girls who gifts them an ingot of iron for setting free the tormented soul of their mother. The party decides to repair to this house after a rowdy night's celebration. During the night Thomas Marchant is awoken from sleep feeling as if he is being watched and spoken too by Bali , from an undisclosed location. Bali reveals that he is still watching our heroes and plotting his revenge. The next morning the party visit Croke's spa for a soak and, in Marble’s case, a Mango Passion Mineral Foot scrub. Whilst there they also make the acquaintance of the very dreamy Sir Vejapho Klokis, a Knight of the Garden , who wins everyone over with his ways precisely and effortlessly calibrated to make him the coolest person in the room. Soon he departs upon his white steed Bellerophon and the party make their way to Burga's Anvil to commission armour for Badalona. It is there the Melvawen, the smith reveals a small problem which she requires assistance with...
