    The Great Fire Of Memoria
    Disaster / Destruction

The Great Fire Of Memoria was a vast, blazing fire swept through the city of Memoria destroying just over half of the city. Several factors were key in preventing the surviving buildings from being engulfed in flames. The main contributors were the building's location in the city, the construction materials, being on the leeward side of the fire, access to water, magical protections, and prayers.   Why the Sonian museum was spared has been greatly speculated upon. Some say it was the hard rock walls, some say it was some sort of dark magic, others say it was a divine miracle. Whatever the reason, witnesses claim to have seen three strange, slightly hunched men outside of the building. And why the stones walls and landscaping took on a bronzy tint during the fire has never been explained.

The Great Earthquake Of Novus Tiro
    Geological / environmental event

A tremendous earthquake rocked the ancient city of Novus Tiro, toppling many buildings, igniting fires, and injuring thousands of people. Most solid stone buildings and older construction were able to survive while the more recent and flimsy built structures were quick to fall or burn.   It seems very fortuitous that the newly built Sonian museum was able to survive while most buildings around it did not. Although very expensive, it looks as if the insistence of its three architects on costly, heavy, dense stone and deep foundations locked into bedrock may have contributed to its survival. It is said that the museum closed early that day at the direction of three mysterious, sun bronzed men.

    The Gasp Affliction Of 701
    Plague / Epidemic

The Gasp Affliction Of 701 was an unusually quick spreading sickness in the city of Memoria. Named for the wheezing breath and short gasps of air, the sickness is often transmitted through the air and spreads quickly from person to person. Typically found in high altitude mountain or desert environments, it completely took the city by surprise and spread before anyone knew that it was there.   After a few weeks of quarantine, panic, and starvation a lone traveler entered Memoria and offered a small hope. A man named Ricin Spurge, dressed in brown and shades of green, approached the Sonians offering to make deal. He offered to produce a definitive cure for the sickness and trade several rare plant species in exchange for the Axe Of Brontaurus displayed in the museum. The Sonians were skeptical but the three brothers reluctantly agreed. The following day, Ricin cured the infected Sonians and gave them enough plants and treatments to restore the rest of the city. Witnesses say that his deep, emerald eyes grew even greener and a wide, wicked smile crossed his face as he traded the plants for the axe.

    The Great Tsunami Of Sailwater
    Geological / environmental event

A huge wall of water crashed into the port city of Sailwater destroying most of the waterfront areas before moving inland to wreck the lower parts of the city as well. The only surviving buildings were those out of reach of the waves and a few that were constructed of solid enough material to withstand the incredible force of the water.   Either great luck or great forethought allowed the Sonian museum to survive here. Once the subject of jokes, the massive stone pillars that the museum was built upon allowed the rushing waters to flow around and underneath the building without harm. Some bewildered survivors who clung to the great stone staircase, claim to have seen three men with wide, toothed grins behind the windows.
