Personal history

Following Tiamat's banishment to the Nine Hells, a mortally wounded Bala'Ishkur retreated with her flight to her lair beneath the Balar Desert. Taking only her closest consorts with her, Bala'Ishkur collapsed the entrance to her lair, leaving the rest of her offspring to fend for themselves on the surface and carve out territory across the mountainous desert. These smaller dragons gave birth to the Daariv Draken, nomadic blue dragonborn that settled the lands of the Balar Isthmus and eastward toward the Bay of Ishkur, assembling themselves into a collection of tribal clans led by several influential chieftains.   In the centuries that followed, the elder Daariv Draken would recount tales of the heroic Bala'Ishkur, whom they called the Storm Mother, and her noble quest to unite all dragons and establish their rightful rule over the plane. The exaltations of the Daariv Draken unknowingly caused the magic of the Thaumic Weave to reroute to the wounded Bala'Ishkur, not only healing the wounds that were slowly killing the ancient blue dragon, but infusing her body with thaumic power, turning the ancient blue dragon into a literal demigod. This power allowed her to outlive her consorts and for thousands of years she convalesced in slumber, her existence becoming the stuff of history and legend to the mortal races on the surface, these legends serving to turn the greatwyrm into a Thaumic Locus.   Over the millennia, the area known as the Balar Isthmus would become the site of several major conflicts, subtly reshaping the Thaumic Weave until the lair of Bala'Ishkur was surrounded by powerful leylines. In the Thaumic Age, a band of Daariv Draken explorers uncovered the lair of the slumbering blue greatwyrm, long since believed to be a legend from ancient times. The Storm Mother awoke to a peaceful world and saw this as the perfect chance for the chromatic dragons, sending envoys to the other chromatic dragons with ambitions of freeing Tiamat and initiating a second Dracomachy. However, history would have other plans. The great Archmage Vitroni's tower had been built on the Deathscar Wastes of the Balar Isthmus, at the nexus of several Thaumic Leylines, within a hundred miles of Bala'Ishkur's hidden lair. When Vitroni's spell failed and caused the cataclysmic Sundering, Bala'Ishkur was obliterated in the resulting blast, with only her sapphire Dragon Core remaining. With the Storm Mother dead and the Bala Desert torn in two by the explosion, the Daariv Draken were separated by the Sea of Hubris and the alliance of chromatic dragons failed to materialize, as the dragons found themselves competing for suddenly dwindling resources.
