Eastwatch

Eastwatch was founded, so the story goes, by Captain Barassarr and the crew of the Fool’s Demise. After accumulating a trove of wealth to rival any Dragon, Barassarr sought a place to call his own. Somewhere free of interference from the rigid societies spreading over the island. To demonstrate his commitment to the cause, and in accordance with the tradition of the ship, Barassarr put the matter to a vote amongst the crew. The result was unanimous. They would seek a life of luxury and leisure as landlubbers. Barassarr took the wheel, found a welcoming cove, and ran the Fool’s Demise aground. The spars of the ship were used to build the Council Chamber. They still stand within the much grander City Hall building, and serve as a reminder of the origins and principles on which the city was founded.   Soon, word spread. Pirates, smugglers, and brigands, all were welcome in Eastwatch. The laws were fair. The people were free. Opportunities abounded. The city prospered. Eastwatch became a major trading hub for Drake’s Rest. The Dwarves sent out shipments of ore, weapons, and tools. The fishing fleet trawled the ocean and provided both domestic and foreign markets with the sea’s bounty.   A thriving creative, cultural, and commercial hub coalesced in Eastwatch. The city was overseen by an elected Council, the head of which was titled “Admiral” in recognition of the origins of the city. Bars, cabarets, and theatres abounded. For years the city thrived.     Main religion: Valkur.  Races: Mainly human, but all are welcome. Government: Elected council and run by the “Commodore”.
