Blackspire
Home of the Shadar-Kai, in service of the Raven Queen. Part sanctuary, part library, part school, part repository of countless undead servants.
Seeking to further understand the workings of life and death, the Raven Queen dispatched a contingent of her Shadar-Kai to the Material Plane and a home was provided them to work undisturbed.
There are old tales of the day the looming tower of black stone appeared in the north. The thundering crash and trembling earth as the mighty column fell through the clouds and impacted into the frozen ground. Terrible warnings soon followed to keep away from the place lest the grey skinned inhabitants steal you away for their horrific experiments.
Several of the religious orders, of all alignments, were notified by their patron deities of this new development. Some sought to bring an end to the work being done there or to destroy the servants of the Raven Queen. Some sought to curry favour with the enigmatic god.
What is known of the Blackspire is often garbled through the lenses of fear and suspicion. What is generally agreed upon is that the grey elves who dwell there seek to study the processes of life and death and do not shy away from utilising whatever physical remnants they can obtain.
