Abahk Stuz
Abahk Stuz is a phrase that translates loosely to the Days of Broken Chains in the language of The Hahgi of the Kanik peninsula. It refers to a period during the Thaerseimai in which the Kanik peninsula was freed from the influence of the Empire of Nara Tok. It is considered by most Hahgi to have been a golden era, the first in several centuries since the region was first occupied by the Imperium, as a result of the Goblin Crusades.
Abahk Stuz is almost universally considered to have begun in the year 393 IF when Qaniva Linaren, the Dagger coordinated the rebellion in Haven and successfully removed the largest Redcloak garrison on the peninsula. This was followed soon after by the formation of the Hahgiahk government in Kannera. There is some contention on when Abahk Stuz should be considered to have ended. Some hold that it lasted until the collapse of the Hahgiahk government in 403 IF and the subsequent return of Imperial forces to the region. Others define it as lasting until the last free outpost was taken in 404 IF, when The Mines of Minera were abandoned by Captain Debad Sliz and the Black Eagles. A select few pose that Abahk Stuz continues into the present day, believing that the revolution is merely on hiatus rather than truly ended, though this view is becoming less and less popular among the wider Lucrenian populace.
Abahk Stuz was a period that is most commonly associated with issues of Hahgi autonomy and with the Hahgiahk government. Over its course, the Kanik peninsula would see many attempted re-invasions from Redcloak forces garrisoned in Thrane and Lucria. It was a period filled with violence and much blood was spilled during it. However, it cannot be denied that for the Hahgi, Abahk Stuz represents a time of growth and progress, after centuries of stagnation. It saw the formation of the first Hahgi college in Kannera, and the education of the first Hahgi high mages, The Nullifiers.
Abahk Stuz also saw the first attempted unification of the Hahgi, and the first united struggle of the orkhs, ghoblins and bugbirh since the Goblin Crusades. Scholars suggest that this was when the term Hahgi became truly meaningful, referring to the united Kanikmen rather than merely speakers of the language of Hahgi. While traditionally the peoples of Kanik have been territorial and zealously distinct, Abahk Stuz allowed for the idea of a more united Kanik identity to blossom, thanks in large part to its revolutionary heroes and the Hahgiahk republic.
