Elves

Homo Scando

Elves were the first race created from Man's magical development, albeit with the gods' intervention as the catalyst. They were originally only very powerful Humans that were unable to control their magical powers, but they developed into much stronger beings that are far more magically capable. They are able to manipulate large masses of magical energy far more effectively than Humans, though they lack somewhat in the combat-oriented pursuits. They are physically similar to Humans, but are slightly taller and typically more lean, and rather more fragile. Their most notable feature is their pointed ears.

Physical Attributes and Appearance

Elves are reasonably similar to Humans, but generally more lithe and a bit taller on average. They have less body fat on average, but also slightly less muscle mass, leading to them being a bit more agile but not quite as strong as Humans. Wounds on an elf take slightly longer to heal than Humans, but less effort to heal with magic. The most immediately visible difference between Elves and Humans is their ears, which are elongated and pointed. Their eyes are also more frequently oddly colored, with brighter colors seeming more common among them.

Magical Attributes and Skill

Elves are quite skilled at magic, only lacking slightly in Dimensional magic, a few forms of Elementalism, Transformation, and Divination. Their spiritual reserves are impressive, their regeneration average, their fine control a bit lacking, and their large-scale control a bit above average. They are slightly weak to magic, as well.

Senses and Perception

Elves have senses only barely better than that of Humans, despite their elongated ears. They are inherently always able to see invisible magical forces.

Genetics and Reproduction

Elves reproduce normally, but their mensuration is a bit less frequent than Humans'.

Growth and Lifespan

Elves' puberty starts at around the same age as Humans', 10 to 14 years old, but they age quite a bit more slowly after that point. Physical maturity takes until their early 20s, and mental maturity takes until their late 20s to early 30s. After that, they age roughly half as quickly as Humans. They tend to live until 300 to 400 years old.

Naming Traditions

Elvish names are generally elegant, long, and complex, with a syllabic flow to them that most consider either quite pretty or else quite pretentious. Examples: Senariel, Gleandrana, Arienal, and such. Family, or Tribe names tend to follow similar trends, though often an entire tribe will share one last name despite being unrelated by blood.

Culture and Customs

A good number of Elves still live in the forests of Deruña, and many yet live outside of society, preferring tribal natural living over crowded society in the cities.

Dietary Needs

Despite some popular beliefs, Elves are not in fact universally vegetarian. They hunt for food as often, if not more so, as they grow their own food.
Etiquette Tips
Elves' ears are quite delicate and sensitive. While staring at them is considered only a bit rude, touching them is severely discouraged, unless you know the Elf personally.

General Opinion
Elves sometimes look down on Humans and other 'lesser races' due to their... More impressive nature in some ways, but many consider them to be stiff and unpleasant.
Fun Elf Fact!
Elves have evolved to be able to consume a number of plants and fruits that would be quite poisonous to Humans!
