Wyrmlings are likely the strongest member of the Divided, discounting Void Creatures. They are the product of -very magically complicated- crossbreeding between a Dragon and any member of the Divided.
They have some aspects of their Draconic heritage, but many of their Divided parentage as well. Most notably of these, is the ability to cast magic while still possessing almost the same spiritual reservoirs as a Dragon, making them extraordinarily powerful beings.
They resemble whatever non-Draconic parent species they were born of, but with numerous Draconic features such as scattered scale coverings, wings, horns, and claw-like hands and feet.
Physical Attributes and Appearance
Wyrmlings' bodies are similar to their parent race, but with several Draconic aspects to it. This typically manifests in the form of large horns on their head, huge Draconic wings, a wide tail, and claw-like feet and hands. They also have scales covering varying portions of their body, and generally the ability to breathe some elemental magic with minimal effort.
Their makeup causes them to be extraordinarily strong, nearly indestructible, and a bit sluggish. in terms of agility and reaction times.
Their cat-like eyes, wings, scales, and tail usually all match color with their Draconic parent, and the rest of their appearance stems from their other parent race.
Magical Attributes and Skill
Wyrmlings are a bit below average at most forms of magic, save for Enchanting, Conjuration and Telekinesis, Summoning, and all forms of Elementalism.
Their spiritual reserves are extraordinary, but their regeneration is surprisingly average. Their fine control is significantly lacking and even their large-scale control is only average. They are slightly resistant to magic.
Senses and Perception
Wyrmligns are able to see invisible magic forces with almost no effort, have extraordinarily keen senses of smell and hearing, and have sight only a bit better than average.
Genetics and Reproduction
Wyrmlings are produced through the mating of a Dragon and any member of the Divided.
Their inheritance is a complicated matter. Wyrmlings are born as their other parent species, but with Draconic features to them.
When Wyrmlings have children with another member of the Divided, they tend to be a normal specimen of their other parent species. However, in some cases they are instead an odd hybrid of the Wyrmling's non-draconic species and the other parent race, though as if that hybrid had been the direct child of a dragon.
Growth and Lifespan
Wyrmlings names are functionally the same as Dragons, though they tend to have shorter names as Dragons have been accruing titles over millennia, and Wyrmlings are inherently younger.
Naming Traditions
Wyrmlings names are functionally the same as Dragons, though they tend to have shorter names as Dragons have been accruing titles over millennia, and Wyrmlings are inherently younger.
Culture and Customs
Wyrmlings have an interesting mixture of Draconic and Divided culture. Typically, they're raised by their Dragon parents for the first handful of decades, then begin to socialize in Divided society for some time. Most are simply curious and enthusiastic about the nature of life among the Divided.
Dietary Needs
While Wyrmlings don't have to eat the same quantity of meat as their Draconic parents, they still do need to consume quite a considerable amount of food to satiate their hunger. They are able to eat non-meat as well, but it doesn't do much to fill them.
Etiquette Tips
While almost all Beastfolk will enjoy the sensation of being petted or scratched, doing so is considered very rude if you don't have their consent. It is considered by some to be inappropriate to do in public, but most are more understanding than that.
General Opinion
Most people consider Wyrmlings to be either an incredible magical advancement, or else reckless tinkering with the way of things that will lead to disaster. Given the vast array of Draconic traits and personalities they have, from curious and mischievous, to helpful and protective, to some occasionally being simply wrathful and cruel. Generally, they're too small in number to be thought about frequently.
Fun Wyrmling Fact!
While Wyrmlings are able to learn magic, it's rare for them to have the patience to do so.
