  • Techmarine
  • Skitarii

Culture

The Adeptus Mechanicus are the religious priesthood that controls the technological and scientific history of Mankind. They believe that all of Mankind's advancements are holy & pure, while the Xenos races are corrupt and without the Machine God's spirit in them. They see that no-one commits heresy by changing the patterns of human technology without their say so, is one of the ultimate blasphemies.   Each of the levels in the Mechanicus follows strict protocols of research and development, using sacred oils & prayers to deal with the machine spirits. Each Mechanicus also looks upon those below them as inferior, and when raised up as an equal.

Public Agenda

To the bulk of the Imperium, the Priesthood of Mars maintains and supplies the technology needed to maintain everyday life. They also supply the war machines for many of the military forces too.

Assets

The Mechanicus control a number of forge worlds throughout he Imperium, and have a number of other assets:
  • Fleets; usually explorator fleets, military fleets, and cargo fleets. These can sometimes be a mix of the three.
  • Massive Warmachines. The Mechanicus has the Colligia Titanicus, Imperial Knight noble house allies, and heavy building the Ordo Reductor siege trains.
  • Allies & Trade Partners. Some Space Marine, and Imperial Guard regiments, help to bolster one another, allowing for special equipment to flow between each other.
  • Mining Operations. Many worlds & systems actively mine resources for the Mechanium in lucrative trade deals, and the Mechanium will actively mine many of their own resources too.
  • Access to STCs & Factoriums. The Mechanium actively search out workable STCs and pour over them for Mankind's lost technology, helping to improve or create new equipment and technology. They also can use the resources of the factoriums the size of cities, if not the size of planets.
  • Sizeable Military Units. Each forge world has a standing army of Skitarii at their disposal, as well as military grade servitors.

History

The Mechanium started as a large cult on Mars before sending out fleets to take over other planets they could use to extend their influence & search for STCs. It eventually grew more & more important through the centuries becoming the largest cult in human history, along with massive trade routes to many surrounding star systems. It became more & more powerful until the Emperor arrived and made the Mechanium an integral part of the fledgling Imperium.   When war broke out during the Horus Heresy, it split the Mechanium in two, allowing for the Mechanicus to reboot itself after everything settled somewhat. They rebuilt and started the same path as they do to this day.
