The Grand Everglow Tourney

Dedicated to The Chevalier, the Tourney is the pinnacle of daring feats and bravery for the Empire's citizens during this stretch of peacetime.
This year commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Grand Everglow Tourney - hosted in the town of Whimbrel - and the festivities are set to be monumental.
To celebrate the centenary, Emperor Davistan XIV has promised that this year's celebrations will be like no other! Half the Empire has had their hand in preparing for the festival - the event beginning on the lasy day of Spring and continuing for many weeks until the Summer solstice. The heraldry of the Empire's noble houses hang from Whimbrel's rooftops, the grandstands are set up and the spring flowers around the Lake's environ are in full bloom.
Knights, mercenaries and nobles from all across Daënfel will meet at this year's tourney, and may the best man win!
There are countless events happening nonstop across the showgrounds, however there are a few main highlights that draw the most crowds. These are:

• The Grand Melee - a last man standing battle of footsoldiers

• The Jousting - a knockout style competition of mounted knights on horseback. This is filled with many of the celebrities and nobles of the Empire

• The Woodchopping - strongmen from around the world compete to dislodge pieces of wood at blinding speeds

Beyond the fighting, the Tourney is also part of a wider cultural festival that coincides with the end of Spring and the leadup to the solstice.
The most notable of these is the religious procession mourning Death, which takes place at the huge memorial crematorium nearby to town.
In addition, markets aplenty stock goods from all over the lands, as The Peddler wills it so. Small religious ceremonies take place daily all over the city of tents, as do cultural events such as recreations of the Second Federation War, or retelling of the many tales and fables of Daënfel.
