Insecticons Species in Cybertron Rises | World Anvil

Insecticons

Among the life that greeted the early arrival of the Quintesson was the Insecticons. Considered a pest species by the Quintesson's and a ever-present threat by any Cybertronian that has escaped the Quintesson Forge Works. The Insecticons are a far reaching in shape and temperament race of instinctive driven creatures that eat Living Metal which occurs naturally in certain craters upon Cybertron but just so happens to make up most of the non-sentient life on Cybertron including the Cybertronian.     The Quintesson Forge Works keeps a carefully watched farm of the Insecticons to generate Cyber-Weave.

Basic Information

Anatomy

At first glance Insecticon and Cybertronian lifeforms maintain a near equal design. Where this differs is the brain and digestive systems. The average Insecticon has less room for a processor as regardless of the size of the Insecticon the majority of its inner workings are dedicated to movement and processing Living Metal into Cyber-Weave. Their limbs vary based on the design sub-species as few has two legs up to sixteen have been observed in the wild.

Growth Rate & Stages

In the wild and in captivity the Insecticons grow based on available material. If sufficient constant food available they will begin to exude Cyber-Weave from their joints until it coats their external surfaces. Once immobilized the creatures will let out a pained screech and shudder a larger version of their previous form erupts from the cocoon within a day and night cycle. This stage also attracts other Insecticons so the survival rate is low even in captivity unless they are isolated. This is understood to be the reason the species has yet to overrun all of Cybertron.

Additional Information

Domestication

Insecticons held in the secret farms by the Quintesson Forge Works tend to be smaller and produce more Cyber-Weave but of a lesser strength that found in the wild. It has been noted that the favored species of four-legged wingless Insecticon chosen by the Quintesson Forge Works is much smaller and far more aggresive in the wild on average.

Average Intelligence

Compulsive desire to eat overrides even the races self-preservation.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

What little processing power remains seems to be dedicated to smell and a form of magnetic sensors that allow the creatures to unerringly find stores of Living Metal over great distances and despite barriers of any but the thickest materials.

Civilization and Culture

History

While there is little currently known of the species in the wild it is widely known to those that might run across the Insecticons in the wilds is that the larger the swarm of them the more dangerous. But even more dangerous is the larger Insecticons.    Despite no singular language or as of yet any transmissions detected the Insecticon species fall into subservience rolls to larger versions of their base designs. Each sub-species, however, will display initial aggression to the other types of Insecticons until a strength hierarchy is established.    In the wild, the Insecticons closest to the surface seem to be embroiled in constant conflict of resources often sharing and turning on each other in equal turn. Long-range optics show that such is not as frenzied the deeper into their nests observed.
Scientific Name
Cybertronic Insectus
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Wild occuring Insecticons tend to range between black and dark brown as their primary colors. Across their body believed to be sub-species spefici are strips here and there that glow with ingested Energon when the Insecticon is excited. Certain areas of Cybertron seem to produce different colors of the Energon patterns.
