Orden

The staging ground for the final performance of the denizens of Cultivo, Orden is a hot, arid continent. Thanks to the encroaching Phyte miasma, most of the population has retreated to the relative safety of the city of the gods, though some settlements still endure on the well guarded west coast.

Geography

Orden is a continent located just north of the equator in the eastern Hemisphere of Cultivo. Measuring in at approximately 3.5 million square miles, its geography is dominated by a large flat basin which stretches from the flat western seaboard to mountain range which stretches across the east coast.   The basin is primarily flat. Arid shrublands near the coast give way to rocky and then sandy deserts. Narrow faults and fissures in the bedrock provide ample drainage of any water in the soil to the massive subterranean aquifers located beneath Orden. This, coupled with the equatorial proximity causes any rainwater to evaporate or drain quickly.   The western coast region consists of arid shrubland with semi-consistent rains which is capable of sustaining agriculture.   The shrubland near the coast gradually becomes more and more dry, with the flat plains becoming dotted with rocky mesas, bluffs, and canyons.   A single artesian lake in the southwestern area of Orden feeds the only natural forest on the continent, Brumebonnet Bosk.   On the northwestern coast lies a natural bay which is home to a defunct drilling platform, which has been re-purposed by the exiled Cismadores into the apostate acropolis, Sandy Terminal.   Near the center of the continent lies the most significant landmark on the continent, a huge mesa holding the capital city. */Nightglass Altar, a huge mesa which houses a natural aquifer. The top of the mesa is home to Celestial Zenith, city of the Creadores and the capital of New Getor. */   To the northeast of Nightglass Altar the massive mesa lies a large canyon, named Exprima Gulch. which in times of old housed several mining towns, but is now is only home to criminals and raiders.   As you travel eastward,

the bluffs give away to sandy desert which then gives away to the The Siltwash. The Siltwash is a huge region of dry quicksand directly leeward of the sheer, arid cliffs of the Clappercrook Peaks, a range of shield mountains which stretch across the entire eastern coast of the continent.

Fauna & Flora

Native flora include hardy shrubs and cacti across most of the continent, with wheat and other farming staples being grown on the more fertile coast. The ancient lake is surrounded by a large forest of massive deciduous trees.   Native fauna include herds of grazing animals, such as buffalo and antelope, as well as carnivores such as jackals which feed on them. The rocky desert houses many kinds of lizards and snakes, with the siltwash being the only natural habitat for the Orden Basilisk.

Natural Resources

Orden is the only known area in the world to have deposits of the elemental crystal Caskega.

I like how you make the transition between biomes. I just would like to know what would be a "mid-sized" continent.   Anyway, nice article!
