Magimorte

Magimorte lost its ley lines around 900 years ago and the only naturally occuring magic is situated around the spots at which ley lines converged back before the ley lines disappeared. The land is now split between those that try to make do with the limited amount of magic that is available, aided by recent advances in technology, and those that turned to the gods in order to gain their magic. The religious people tend to keep to themselves around the southern and eastern part of the land, while the people that tried to make due with what was left keep to the central and northwestern parts of the land. There are also two notable independent communities in the northern and northeastern parts of the land. Many of the more magically inclined races stayed in the cities built around the ley line hotspots, since the lack of natural mana sometimes made them fall ill if they spent too much time away from the ley lines. Similarly, the aasimar mostly keep to the religious communities since there were very few religious establishments in the other parts of the land. Some mages have found ways of converting their own lifeforce into magic and as such are less dependent on mana crystals, but this practice is generally frowned upon since it can be very dangerous. At first people freely harvested the mana crystals in order to survive when leaving the magical cities, but after the wars corporations have bought out the land surrounding the ley line hotspots and now own all trade of natural mana crystals. There are those that channel their own mana into artificially grown crystals, but these tend to be somewhat unreliable and are generally only used by the poor and desperate.
