Savusonn, The Lord in Lethe

Minor God of Weapons, Warriors, Outcasts, Freedom, and The Forgotten

"...I thought you'd finally be happy with your old man, for once."   "Happy? Is that what you think of me, father? My heart aches at how poorly you comprehend your own son. No, I'm not happy - not with you, and not with him, or any of the others!"   "Ungrateful brat. I intervened to save them, you know."   "Oh yes, and you've done a fine job of that. Millions dead. Millions! But what does that matter to you? There'll always be more, right?"   "Don't twist my words, boy! You think I don't know that?! What would have happened if I hadn't intervened, then? If that errant rebel had been allowed to act unchallenged while another mortal party had been scavenged up? Well, I'll tell you - she wouldn't have been satisfied with the Lowland Fiefs, boy. The entire mortal world would have fallen under her influence! Every inhuman, purged and sterilized. Like it or not, it's my job to stand in their defense!"   "..."   "...do you even know how many of them I hear?"   "Excuse me?"   "Their final words, I mean. I'm no shadow, but I hear it all - every last rite, every word of goodbye, every dying regret. Every. Single. One. Yet still, I endure. Listen, and obey. You think it doesn't wrack my heart? You think I don't mourn? No general worth his salt can say he feels nothing when his men die. Yet i endure, because it's my duty. You know nothing of duty, boy! Nothing! You don't get to lecture me on duty when you walked away from yours to spite me and your mother!"   "..."   "It's easy to play the bleeding heart moralist when you don't see the full picture, isn't it? When you aren't responsible for an entire cosmos? You could learn something from The Unbroken in that regard - looked into the abyss, he did. Knows more than any other the burden on our heads. Yet he endures. Because it's his duty."   "Don't foist your ideals of duty onto me, father. I won't disrespect what you do - for that, I apologize - but do not mock me nor mistake my neutrality for weakness of the heart. You and your kind have divided this cosmos with bitter rivalries and childish antics - I have walked these lands, seen the people as they see themselves, lived as they do. Perhaps you are correct - without your intervention, it may have been worse. But we won't know, will we? Because you took that choice from them - for better or worse, it was theirs to make! Their lives are theirs alone to live! Not ours to dictate! I won't pretend the fault is squarely yours - it isn't - but the others aren't here for me to yell at them, so here we are.   "...you've finally found it."   "What?"   "Your path, boy. You finally found it, didn't you? A place where you belong. A path to call your own. I'm proud of you - even if I don't agree with it."
— Savusonn and Ruthger, Speaking shortly after the beginning of the Age of Godsfall

Artifacts

Unique amongst all his divine peers, Savusonn is believed to have a great number of artifacts from all across the Cosmos - relics gained from the far off land of Zheng-Kitar, gifts given from the isolated continent of Numiastra, treasures taken from the lands of Corexus, and more are believed to adorn Savusonn and his personal vaults. So famous indeed is he for receiving gifts from across the planet that he is perhaps the only deity to be so universally appreciated across all walks of life and religions, making his vaults perhaps the only place in the cosmos where such diverse and unique items can be found together under one roof - so well traveled is he that he has even journeyed into the Outer Sphere and claimed treasures from the depths of Gehenna and its Horseman Masters(By Force and Trickery Alike), been given gifts by Angels and Devils in equal measure, and more. As such, his artifacts remain largely personal and kept on his persno yet are believed to range in nature from weaponry to armor to mighty trinkets to even more esoteric gifts such as titles, blessings, food, cultural offerings, and more.   As for what exactly those gifts may be, is unknown - as only a scant handful have ever been recorded in his possession, and few are given out to his faithful(Making him a rather unique deity who treats most of his artifacts as his alone and operates more as a singular entity than the head of a faith). Chiefmost of his artifacts is a powerful amulet known as The Roamer's Timepiece which is said to allow him entry pass any barrier or ward be they magical or mundane in nature; a relic that is so powerful that it supposedly allows him to cross The Divine Gate, and enter the sealed continent of Zheng-Kitar with little difficulty.

Tenets of Faith

Steel yourself. Do not draw a weapon if you lack the resolve to use it. Finish what you start no matter the cost.

People, not Politics. Aid the cause of people, not the people's cause. Help where help is needed and protect the freedom of choice.

Walk the long road. Be humble and put yourself in the shoes of others, that you may know their struggles. Roam the land to know its people as your own.

Restore the abandoned. Give a home to the Outcast, spread the word of the forgotten, and fix what has been abandoned and left behind to honor The Pale Blade.

Collect and Protect. Gather up the weapons and techniques of the world and protect their legacies. Study them, master them as their creators did, and spread them to others.

History

Born from the loins of the Bloodthirster long before the dawn of time in his one and only tryst with the then matron deity of the elves Lolth before she fell to darkness, Savusonn wandered as a demigod for ages, split between his father and mother's ideals and with none to truly call his own...it was not until his mother attempted to sway him to her side in a failed plot that would have led to his enslavement at her hands that Savusonn saw his parents for who they truly were.   As his father raged and demanded he join him at his side in a conquest against the drow and his mother for what she'd nearly done to him, Savusonn is said to have seen the failings of those who subscribe wholeheartedly to the service of another, even the gods...and found them wanting. He then began to wander, finding his true beliefs of freedom and giving a home to all outcasts and those forgotten.   Now, he actively works against his mother Lolth who he sees as the ultimate tyrant, striving to free her followers from eternal servitude to her even as he ignores the advances of his father, who he sees as better, but still flawed as he demands such strict obedience from his followers. However, the two get along in quite a prickly fashion, unlike him and his mother, who he has sworn to cast down and destroy.

If there were justice in this cosmos of yours, then gods like him would not be cast out and ignored.   Do you even fathom all he has done for this cosmos of yours?   Ever questioned why he claims the title of Lord of my greatest river?   Of course not.   And that is why this cosmos will die.
