Veradil

Sitting on the northeastern shore of Lake Esperia, the town once known as “Veradil Village” provides for itself through its fishing industry - shipping fresh seafood to places like Haven, Arboris, and occasionally as far as Engervar. While fishermen in Esperia are known for catching the larger and more exotic fish from the vast, deep waters of the lake, the people of Veradil instead pull in larger hauls of smaller fish and freshwater crustaceans found in the much shallower waters on the northern shores, making their catches much more marketable to the general public. Additionally, Veradil shares a close relationship with the lizardfolk of the Hallis'allah Tribe, unlike any other settlement in the Union. The close proximity between the two peoples, and the shared aquatic livelihoods, have generated a level of trust and intimacy unseen anywhere else on Coralous; and it isn’t unusual at all to see the occasional lizardfolk living among the people of Veradil. They are still very protective of their island habitat, however, and it is a rare occasion indeed that citizens of Veradil are invited to the island home of the reptilian neighbors.

Government

Like most of the small settlements in the western Union, Veradil uses a democratic system to elect a mayor from the populace every five years. The mayor is responsible for helping direct the policies of the town, but mostly serves a diplomatic function; representing the people of the village in the Union meetings twice a year and working with the Halis'allah representatives to keep relations between the neighbors in good standing.
