Arcana Academy
The sole school of wizardry operating in Coralous that operates out of the Academy Sanctum in Nettle Lake. The current dean of the school is Pelleador Goffianno, who has pushed for the curriculum to focus heavily on understanding the ancient secrets hidden on the island home. While the education of arcane magicians is, and always has been, the primary focus of the Academy, this shift of priorities has had the side effect of creating a lucrative market for anyone willing to push the boundaries of the Union, and seek out the unknown.
To this end, besides the miscellaneous work offered by townsfolk around the area, the Academy has become the most common employer of adventurers and explorers - even offering some of the more accomplished or intrepid among them full-time employment. They have also begun to create a competitive market for skilled laborers and miners who used to ply their skills almost exclusively in Arboris and Engervar, instead paying for their experience in excavating the myriad ruins found scattered around the area.
Some of the arcane community have come to bemoan using up so much of the Academy's time and resources to employ and research non-magical entities, but others are quick to point out that there is no larger collection of educated minds in the whole of the Union since the Fall of New Coralous. Also, that while still relatively small in number, such endeavors have produced a handful of insights into magic and artifice that have never been seen anywhere else on the whole of Golarion.
