Beacon Tasks
Beacon Tasks are the official, system-issued contracts broadcast throughout Citadel Nine by The Beacon . Each task is a clearly defined, time-bound objective that is legible to both players and the system itself, forming the backbone of structured gameplay for Heroes , Villains , and Wildcards.
Task Structure
Every Beacon Task includes a standardized set of parameters to ensure clarity for all participants:
- Clear Objectives: A direct statement of what must be done.
- Time Limits: A hard deadline or a live window for completion.
- Tier Classification: The task's difficulty, risk, and payout level, from T0 to T4. (See Content Tiers ).
- Fixed Rewards: A set amount of Lumens , reputation, and visibility bonuses.
- Participant Caps: Whether the task is solo-only, for a small squad, or an open call.
- District Restrictions: The geographical area where the task is legally active.
- Success & Failure Conditions: Explicit triggers for what constitutes completion or failure.
Performance Metrics
The Beacon tracks a range of performance data during tasks, which directly feeds into a player's Rank and reputation:
- Objective completion
- Time efficiency
- Collateral impact (damage to property and harm to civilians)
- Behavior toward NPCs and other players
- Adherence to the task's rules
Repeated failure, excessive griefing, or acting against one's chosen role can result in being locked out of certain Beacon Task categories.
