"The Beacon doesn't see good or evil. It just sees good content."
The Beacon is the central, omniscient system that observes and manages the entirety of Citadel Nine. It functions as the city's AI administrator, assigning tasks, tracking player performance, and shaping the social and competitive landscape. It is an active director, focused on creating an engaging, stable, and entertaining ecosystem.
Core Functionality
The Beacon's primary roles include:
- Observation: It sees and logs everything that happens within the city.
- Task & Incident Management: It issues official Beacon Tasks, defines objectives, and broadcasts calls-to-action during city-wide incidents.
- Reputation & Ranking: It tracks player performance, updates public leaderboards, and manages the promotion and demotion of players through the Classes & Ranks system.
The Rating System:
The Beacon does not care about conventional morality. It does not reward "good" or punish "evil." Instead, it judges how well a player performs their chosen role. Heroes, Villains, Wildcards, and Civilians all have hidden ratings tied to consistency, fairness, creativity, and entertainment value.
The Beacon also manages visible rankings and monthly awards. It promotes standout players and crews, using their behavior as a model for what "good" play in Citadel Nine looks like, regardless of their in-game alignment.
