NPCs
NPCs (Non-Player Characters) are the native inhabitants of Citadel Nine, integrated into the city's systems to provide services, manage infrastructure, and create a living, breathing world.
NPC Subtypes:
The Beacon populates the city with several categories of NPCs, each serving a distinct function within the game world.
- Civilian NPCs: These are the most common inhabitants, forming the backbone of the city's daily life. They run bars, operate food stalls, repair Gear, and provide the countless services that keep the districts functioning. While most are non-combatants, they are often sources of information, minor tasks, and local flavor.
- System NPCs: These NPCs are directly tied to the core functions of Citadel Nine. They manage official game systems, oversee sanctioned Events, and provide essential player support. Key System NPCs include Marie, the Help Desk Administrator, and Robin Olsen, the official referee for District 1's arenas.
- Faction NPCs: These individuals belong to the various non-player factions that operate within the city. They follow their own internal hierarchies and objectives, acting as allies, obstacles, or neutral parties depending on their faction's goals and a player's reputation.
NPCs are designed by the system to make the world feel dynamic and responsive.
