Riley Woodhame

Dragonlord Riley Woodhame (a.k.a. "Big Roll Riley")

Riley Woodhame was a human treasure hunter and Champion of Vivian. He was primarily active in the year of 1A 5689, where he and a group of four other adventurers defeated the Knights of Black Dragon and became Dragonlords.

History

Early Life

On the 6th of August of 5661, Riley Woodhame would be born in the city of Brymoor. Though not much is known about his early life, a few key events took hold in his life of some notoriety. Firstly, Riley possibly had an Elf arms master, as his fighting style (a dexterous dancing style involving a rapier and a scimitar) is a closely-held practice to Wood Elves of Gaelitia.

Sometime in his early or middle 20's, after becoming a skilled fighter, he joined the lore-keeping foundation of the Hearthstars in Brymoor. Knowing his background with elven fighting techniques, the Hearthstars assigned him to hunting for lost artifacts. Riley would prove his worth in the organization, and would eventually be assigned to find a legendary Elven artifact called the Mirror Shield. Closely collected clues led him to track down the shield's location to somewhere in Orwood. Unfortunately, as the War of the Dragonlords was ending, his access to Orwood was completely shut off by Gothain soldiers.   Riley was forced to turn back to Brymoor and explain the bad news. The Hearthstars revealed to Riley that the shield was crucial to the organization's survival after the war, since taxes were being raised. Riley would have to find some money to help the organization become much more stable.

Will of the Dragonlords

A bit low on money, Riley traveled to Feller's Rock in hopes to find some bounty hunting jobs. He would find an advertisement for Silver Town's "Lazy Loafer Bakery". He would also meet Wulfric Cisboren, Slytoff Han, and Gilliam W. Maydestone. Him and the party of mercenaries would stop by the Silver Chalice Inn at Silver Town, grab some food, and the next morning went off to meet the baker. They would deliver a wedding cake for the local Dragonlord (Henry Foswell) of Silver Town. Along the way, they were bombarded by Black Knights who wished to destroy the cake. Riley and the company fended them off and delivered the cake safely.   When arriving, Riley and the party also decided to protect Lord Foswell's daughter from an assassin's plot. Foswell would thank them for their work, but they uncovered the man behind the plot: a Black Knight called Sir Edward. Riley and his friends accepted a job to bring Edward's head. Then, the next day, they picked up Tequila Cambow and they were off and headed to the forests of Caleah. Here, they would meet Seldwig Lightfoot, whom Riley began not to trust.

As a Warlock of the Blade

The night in the woods, Riley would be called upon by a mysterious voice. His curiosity led him to follow it. He would find a misty lake, twisted with seasons changing rapidly and the stars chaotic. He met the Lady of the Lake, named Vivian, who offered him a chance to control his fate in exchange for a few "favors". Riley would accept, and as proof of the pact, the Lady of the Lake turned his normal rapier into the blade Fatebender.   Riley and the party traveled to Urshlon in order to assault the Black Dragons. They failed their first attack, and the second led to the party being blasted with a fireball. However, the party defeated Sir Edward (thanks to Riley picking up some rosemary, to which the knight was allergic). They returned to Silver Town with the head and confronted a shopkeeper named Grace, who tried to rip them off. The party plotted to rob her afterwards.

Investigating the Black Dragons

When the party robbed Grace's Wonders, they discovered that it was a front by Lady Qenlynn to infiltrate Silver Town. They gave this information to Lord Foswell. Then, Riley was given a vision by the Lady of the Lake to continue to Feller's Rock, to destroy a Black Dragon development there to create Half-Dragons. Riley obeyed, defeating a wizard named Kilroy Mancer and rescuing Sir Galafred from the curse of a Half-Dragon. He also gained Mithril Chainmail. Riley and the party also defeated a Danen bard named Percival who was manipulating Lord Wickam. At Feller's Rock they met Warder Payne, the Vice-Mage of Cemedri Magicus who invited them to help them with the Black Dragon Knights.

The Venture into the Underdark

At Cemedri Magicus, Riley and the party was requested to venture into the Underdark to recover more Duergar Soul Sand, hoping it could be used to reverse the Half-Dragon curse more conveniently. Deep into the depths, the party fought through a Drider, Choldriths, and Chitines to eventually meet the Drow, who were being assaulted by Duergar troops. Riley spoke as a representative for the party, knowing Elvish, to the Drow. They helped the Dark Elves by destroying a Duergar manufacturing plant for the Soul Ash, leading to the Drow to regain control of their region of the Underdark. The Drow thanked the party, giving them a Cloak of Elven Kind, which Riley decided to wear. Thus they returned to the Mage College with a collection of Soul Sand, to which the Arch-Mage, Imin Aldir, used to start creating potions.

The Gift for Morgesk

Riley had a vision while travelling in the Underdark, with Vivian telling him to give a gift of a necklace to the silver dragon Morgesk, her prophet. The party traveled away from Miweck and encountered Vivian's cultists who gave them supplies for their quest. Thus the party traveled down the Silver River, but were stopped by Black Dragon and Danen troops. The party defeated them and then arrived at Kirkwall, a town near the Dragonscale Mountains. The town was assaulted by Black Knights and a dragon named Gorgoth. The party rescued the sorcerer Hamill to help them out of the city, and picked up Hilda Snowladen, a ranger, to help them travel up the Dragonscale Mountains.   Going up the mountains, they defeated Yetis and a terrible Bhuer Hag. They visited Morgesk, who tested their strength and wit. Then, he sent the party to the Temple of Vanu-Am to proclaim themselves as Dragonlords to slay Turot the Two-Headed, a terrible dragon who has terrorized his mountain. The party obeyed, infiltrating the temple, slaying the dragon with ease, and returning back to Kirkwall. They then killed Gorgoth and Charles Sherwood (a Black Dragon cleric), liberating the city and proclaiming themselves as true dragonlords.

The Final Stretch

The party went north, to Ebenwald, to gain their titles as Dragonlords. They came to the court of the king, who knighted them and gave them the titles. Then, he sent the party to Keller's Coast to investigate Beorhtric and the Dragonslayer Sword, which he thought would help against their assault against the Black Knights and the Danen.   Now calling themselves the Dragonblazers, Riley and the party went further north to Keller's Coast. Riley was very drunk when they uncovered a Danen plot to infiltrate the city from the inside. Evidently, Riley and the party would fight their way out of Keller's Coast as the Black Knights took over. They defeated a demon named the Lord of the Chains, then vanquished a black dragon named Ydrith the Devourer. They were hailed as heroes, and they gave a great feast and parade for the freedom of Keller's Coast.   Riley got one final task from Vivian: awaken Beorhtric, who has refused to do his task and help the Kells. Riley led the Dragonblazers to Castle Drulikak, where they beat Beorhtric into submission to do his task. Then, they were teleported to Amagus Tower, which was taken over by a transformed Qenlynn and the Black Knights. The armies of Lysandus battled the Black Knights and Danen while Riley and company ascended the tower, defeating Black Knights and Abishais trying to block their way. At the top, Riley and company fought Qenlynn Millerstone until Gilliam finally vanquished her.

As the Eternal Champion

Completing his task, Riley was once again visited by Vivian after a second celebration. Vivian opted to free Riley from his pact, but Riley refused, wishing to be her champion forever. Thus, Vivian agreed, and the fate of Riley Woodhame would lead to him falling further into obscurity. For a while he was the lord of Keller's Coast, but after that, he disappeared, going the way of Beorhtric and only returning when Keller was in dire needs. He planted his sword, Fatebender, within a stone at Feller's Rock so that one day, a new champion of Vivian may be chosen.
