Laramidia

Laramidia is the north western peninsula of Great Antillia. It's notable for holding a ginormous, fertile basin that connects to the painted desert.

History

The geographic history is a mystery to many of the settlers of Laramidia, since it has become a rather recent home for humans. Yet the humans were not the first bipedal creatures there. The Lizardfolk were the aborigines of the land, being a very cold and cunning people. They began to come into conflict with the first human settlers in the 1A 6300, when the Tallians began to try and colonize Antillia, their first target being Laramidia for it's fertile soil. Since then, the Lizardfolk have fought to preserve their way of living against the Tallians. Many treaties have been made and broken.

Geography

While inland much of it starts to meet into desert, where the Basin of Laramidia lies, it is rolling plains. These plains are disrupted by the waters of the Great Xquatl River, breaking into different deltas and streams across the peninsula, adding to it's fertility. It is a flat land, save for the Gemelos Grandes Mountains, the twin peaks being noticeable for hundreds of miles.   The southwest tip of the peninsula, however, is where the Great Xquatl empties into the Sea of Antillia, and is by far the most lush of the land in Laramidia. It's forests are extensive, holding great sequoias. They are the best for farm land as well, often flooding and leaving crops to grow thicker and fuller throughout the spring and summer.

Fauna & Flora

Across the plains, it will not be hard to notice the most majestic and largest creatures on the planet: the dinosaurs, or in the native tongue, "kwespaltin". Primarily home to the large predator, the Tyrannosaurus, the bane of the Lizardfolk. Besides the Tyrannosaurus, other predators like the deinonychus and the pteranodon. Yet not everything is carnivorous; the Brontosaurus feeds of the great sequoia trees. Hadrosaurs stampede the plains, and Triceratops prove a vicious match against the predators, being an omnivore.

Natural Resources

The Tallians found the land's fertility it's greatest resource. It was not legally owned (only settled by the Lizardfolk), so many took it by force. The new land has been used to raise livestock and create farms for the settlers. Some unique fruits and vegetation were found in Great Antillia too. Watermelon, different types of nuts, lemons, tomatoes, potatoes, different gourds and beans have become staples of Laramidian diets.   However, the Tallians were surprised when they found gold in the mountains. The hope of getting rich off of gold led to waves of Tallians settling in the lands. The peninsula also was found to have saltpeter despoits, which the Tallians have taken over forcefully with their guns. Iron and other metals have also been discovered, but the prior two resources are more bountiful and valued by the Tallians.
