Captain Dana Bonebreaker

Captain Dana Cortez (a.k.a. Captain Bonebreaker)

Dana Cortez, also known as Captain Bonebreaker, was a Revenant Pirate who sailed the waters of the Wallingwish Islands in the 2nd Age.   Wanted dead or alive, this Pirate Captain has been a menace to the High Seas of the Wallingwish Islands for a span of at least 5 years. She was ruthless in her ways, killing enemies on enemy pirate ships she would capture as a sign of mercy. Her name was given by a Carallinian sailor who saw her break the bones of his captain in order to interrogate the man.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Dana has become a cursed woman under Calypso, meaning her true form is that of an Revenant, which looks like an undead skeleton.

Dana Bonebreaker Cursed

Because of her status as a Warlock, she often uses spells to disguise her form in front of crew members and people who do not know her very well. As such, she will take the appearance she had before she died, that of a young Carallinian woman.

Body Features

Dana has tan skin, an attribute of her Carallinian ancestry, and dark hair to follow.

Facial Features

Dana has a scar on her left cheek, looking like it was from a sword fight, as well as other wounds across her rather chiseled face.

Special abilities

Given she is a warlock of The Celestial, she has been given spectacular supernatural powers. Particularly, she can heal her crew with ease, seems to be able to take many disguises, and use different magical abilities.

Specialized Equipment

Dana's hat was specifically designed to help her cast spells, as it is her holy symbol.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Dana was born to the infamous pirate captain, Federico Cortez, as his only daughter. Being raised up at sea, she experienced the hardship of it and found herself sympathizing with the pirates her father lorded over. Sometime when she became a teenager, her father died, but not before he gave her a magical spyglass and map to find the Treasure of Ages that he hid.   Dana became a first mate for another pirate ship until the ship came subject to Mindflayers, who devoured most of the people on the ship or used them for ceremorphisis. Dana was left to die in 5851, drowning at sea. However, she was given a second chance by the goddess Calypso, who did not take kindly to the Mindflayers invading Talamh. Calypso revived Dana in the form of undead, making her serve and live forever until she eliminated the last of the Ilithids. Thus, she became a Warlock of the Celestial, and suffered from hunger, and the only feeling she could find was pain from battle.   A decade-long grudge between her and a privateer, named Captain Wallingtosh, finally came to an end in 2A 56 as she bombarded his ship, killed him in cold blood, and captured unidentified prisoners. She proceeded to loot the ship for gold and took a mysterious party of prisoners under her wing. She eventually revealed to Alexandroth Habsburg, one of the prisoners, that she targeted the ship because they were on it. Dana proceeded to instruct him and the rest of the party to retrieve a treasure map at Port Royal. Later on she assisted them with defeating the hags at Hag's Cliff, and led them to retrieving the Eye of the Beholder. There, her curse was unveiled toward the party.   She led the party of adventurers toward Bootstrap's Blunder along with Alexandroth Hapsburg, where they encountered a hydra and had their ship demolished. She used a secret Ship and a Bottle to bring forth the Capricorn II. Then, her and the party of adventurers headed to the Island of Ages, where they finally began to look for the forbidden treasure.   Dana would be turned in by the party she assembled, now being called the Champions of Maclir. She was captured by the Tritons and was brought before Maclir to face her own punishment for her crimes at sea. However, Morganine and Calypso intervened, arguing for her soul. The Champions of Maclir decided to give her soul over to Morganine, ending her curse and freeing Alexandroth instead. Thus, Dana's soul suffered under the shadow of Morganine for the rest of eternity.

Employment

Captain Dana is a buccaneer by trade, pillaging merchant ships for the sake of combating the corrupt slavers and traders who run the Wallingwish Islands. She also does it to accumulate her own wealth and keep up her status as an adventurer.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Dana finds herself in a unique position, where she carefully went up the steps of her career to become a first mate in a previous pirate ship. She was loyal, which was her strongest attribute.   Ever since her time as a Revenant, she managed to steal her own ship, called The Capricorn, and use it for her efforts of piracy. She has accumulated different crews over the years, and even managed to capture The Devestator, a privateer vessel run by George Wallingtosh. She would eventually place it into a bottle and rename that ship The Capricorn II.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Dana has devoted herself to a life of piracy, and as such is hungry for the pursuit of more and more treasure. Often times she will get herself in situations where the odds are against her favor all out of a chance to gain more gold and wealth.

Savvies & Ineptitudes

Though good with dice and gambling, she is not the greatest of fighters. She tries to hide this fact by her commanding prowess and strategy, but when it comes to wielding a sword, she has a tendency to not have the best footing.

Likes & Dislikes

Captain Dana has a grudge against Privateers, finding them to be a mockery of piracy, and also finds them to be more cruel. From her point of view, they are lacking in loyalty to crew and captain. Another part of this is because she finds it unfair that many pirates, who started off as grunge sailors tired of their mistreatment, became pirates solely to survive. To find Privateers being granted amnesty by governments to do the same illegal acts disgusts her.

Virtues & Personality perks

Despite her attitude, Captain Dana actually enjoys negotiation and letting any opposing arguments get more favorable odds. Often times she thinks more about her crew's well-being than her own (which is strengthened by the fact she is already dead).

Social

Religious Views

Dana is a devout follower of Calypso, the goddess of voodoo. Dana pledged herself as a thrall to the goddess in order to do her bidding.

Mannerisms

Dana often talks with her chin up and her hands on her hips, giving a sense of authority to whenever she speaks to someone.
