Forgotten Legion

The Forgotten Legion was once the apex of military prowess in the Kingdom of Nuaira, a force of over 500 infantrymen and women that existed prior to The Haphrises War with the Magocracy of Ezir.   The Forgotten Legion, then known as the Legion of Elolla, had performed well in the Wyrmblood War of 557 CE and were awarded honors by High King Leithlein Temarech. The Legion disappeared in 1003 CE, just two years before the Haphrises War.

Composition

Manpower

1,520 elite Nuaira soliders

Equipment

Each legionnaire wore leather armor, carried a light metal shield, and wielded either a shortspear or Nuaira Curve Blade. Most were trained with the short bow. The Legion traveled light, often supplementing their rations with magical food, such as goodberries or the heroes' feast spells.

Vehicles

The Legion rarely used vehicles for transport, instead marching on foot or utilizing magical gateways to reach their destination. As officers appeared to be members of the rank-and-file, they did not utilize any method of transport that the average legionnaire did not have available.

Structure

The Legion was overseen by a General and command staff from Leithlein, while field decisions were made by a Commander and junior officers. The legion was divided into four groups, known as Seasons, each of which was overseen by an officer.

Tactics

The Legion favored mobility over durability, and each formation was trained in guerilla warfare, hit-and-run tactics, and disruption of supply lines. Each individual in the Legion was capable of filling whatever role was needed on a given mission, with the overall mentality of the Legion epitomized in the expression "Be as the water that flows to fill the gap."

Training

Members of the Legion trained from adolescence to adulthood and continued training throughout their careers. It was expected that the Legion would be that person's life until they were no longer capable of performing the duties assigned.
