The Divine Family

The Divine Family is made up of seven greater gods, and represents the major pantheon of the world. Although their worship takes many different forms and traditions, nearly everyone in the world either worships or acknowledges the Divine Family in some form or another.   The Divine Family is led by its matriarch Niraila, goddess of the sun, light, and life. Her consort Kulo assists her as the god of death, war, and destruction. Some sects of religious belief separate out Niraila and Kulo as the greatest of gods, and may not worship the children of the family.   Niraila and Kulo have two sons, Ako, god of nature and Vitar, god of storms, and two daughters, Elene, goddess of civilization and knowledge, and Portura, goddess of magic and the arts.   They also have a fifth child, Suris, a deity of indeterminate gender who regularly plays tricks upon their siblings and parents. Although the birth order of the other deities is often in dispute, Suris is the youngest of the gods, and is usually believed to be the creator of all the humanoid races.
