Kulo Character in Children of Fate World | World Anvil

Kulo

Consort to Niraila, Kulo is the god of destruction, death, and war. Although his purpose and manner are generally thought of as bloody and often to be avoided, Kulo is an important and respected member of The Divine Family. His destruction is necessary for the procreation of life.   As a god of war, Kulo is honored on the battlefield, and many battles are devoted to his name. Certain sects (especially certain Halfling sects) believe that waging war is necessary in order to fully worship Kulo, and to do otherwise is failing to give him the honor he deserves. Some fulfill this obligation with bloodless ritual battles, while others will have fights to the death or even declare holy wars.   Kulo is also specially honored in his role as the god of death. He acts as a shepherd for the souls of the dead, and he and his angelic servants lead them safely through the perilous afterlife to their resting places (or to their reincarnated bodies). Sects who emphasize this role generally declare that Kulo does not actually desire death or sacrifice, but dutifully guards the moment of passing.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Kulo is differentiated from the rest of the Divine Family with a symbol consisting of a diamond with a line or lines extending down from the bottom tip.   The number, quality, and placement of these lines changes depending on the sect, but the most common symbol has three parallel lines extending straight down from the tip and from either side of the tip.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

Kulo is generally seen as a balancing god, ensuring that life does not overfill the boundaries of the plane and cause suffering through too much abundance. He keeps Niraila's wild growth in check.
