The CHG-UHN War
UHN: wow thank Slavic Stalin we managed to crush those rebels in the The Great Rebellion now we can continue to be manipulated by corporate interests and corrupt officials to further worsen the lives of most of our population to further the wealth of an extremely small minority.
UHN's soldiers: where's my money in wages, pensions, etc?
UHN: *sweats* uhhh... about that. I kinda don't have any because I straight up gave it to the companies that are getting dangerously close to becoming and in some cases actually have become megacorps due to the ease with which they can puppet me. I also can't cover it by poll-taxing everyone because almost nobody can afford to pay another poll tax and am unwilling to do VAT or income tax.
UHN's soldiers: *loads railgun* I'm sick of this sh** I shot my own brother for you and now you don't even pay me?
The mercenaries of the corporations that have been puppetting the UHN and really don't want an authoritarian militaristic government because it wouldn't let them get away with all the crazy stuff they've been doing, let alone not heavily tax them: *loads railgun* uhh hi my name's Dave I like money.
The Conflict
Deployment
I'ma just put how it went down here since I'm not sure how these headers work:
General Clause led 500,000 soldiers to take over Earth and declared that he was taking over. Soldiers across the CHG, ears pricking when he mentioned that they'd actually get paid in his new government, flock to add to his forces and they battle across the UHN against megacorp mercenaries and loyalist military forces.
After 3 years, the CHG has successfully taken over enough of the UHN to be considered a victor. Remnants, as well as planets/systems attempting to gain independence, are brought to heel.
The Engagement
The soldiers were mostly using standard UHN combat gear while mercenaries were extremely varied in how they were, although not usually as well, geared up. A lot of the mercenaries were just guys/gals who showed up when megacorps advertised that they'd pay people to fight for the UHN.
Outcome
Lots of miniature civil conflicts as the last megacorps were crushed and planets attempting to secede from the CHG were destroyed.
Aftermath
There was a lot of economic turmoil for a decade or so after the takeover due to incompetence ("uhh I come up with ways my soldiers should shoot people how do I get roads built?"), the destruction of the megacorps people had grown reliant upon and so on.

They ARE the military and have gotten practice recently in crushing The Great Rebellion
TONNES of money to hire TONNES of mercenaries and get deadly equipment.
Casualties
A surprisingly large amount. Around 40%.
Unknown but everyone who was high up in the UHN or a megacorp was either killed or had to get outta the newly formed CHG with sahnic speed and even then had a bounty on their head. Around 60% of mercenaries hired died.
Objectives
Take over the government, crush the megacorps and establish a stable authoritarian militaristic state in which they're paid adequately for their dangerous work.
Stop the soldiers from overthrowing the government so that corporate interests can continue to be pushed.
