Lucky Baby

"Lemme tell ya, night or day I like the Baby. In the morning it's all bright and shiny, polished and sweet smelling. Breakfast served by smiling Dailon or Thova the joker, sometimes Itievu ( who is like to be singing or hums a tune while caring for the potted plants she keeps in sconces on the walls) or Ieah.  Eggs, fried slices of ham, small cakes with honey or fruit, squeezed juice and tea. herbal, spiced or Dhoeen. On a cold morning it can just feel like a big-ol hug. Plus Itievu might get talked into laying on hands to cure the hangover from too much of the fine rum they brew from Sweet Grass.

There is talk that the place is haunted, but other 'taurs I talked with say it's The spirits . I swear one night I was drinking with some feller who matched me drink for drink and laughed at me stories and jokes and then just vanished. I recon it were one of them spirits. Earogwa and Itievu say they keep just the good and friendly spirits, mostly. Happy ones that spread warmth and look like some sorta animal brazier, curl up on yer feet and radiate companionship and good will, or like it when tempers get a bit fired up and a fight breaks out. Old Earogwa either puts them fighters in the box and keeps stakes on the bets or breaks it up and tosses them out. Sometimes the brawlers just get tossed out by the spirits - especially if the fight'n starts busting up the chairs and stuff.

At night the place has a mix of Minotaur , human folk, The Fae and sometimes barbarian Bahku who trade and deals with the Minotaurs in town. The rum and ale flows. They bring out the house specialty - these flat breads spread with sauce, cheese and chopped meat and vegetables that get baked up. So good! There is songs and tales, musicians play in the box. Always toss a few talents in the hat for them above what Itievu pays. On other nights there is wrestling in the box. Or Fighting. Sometimes it's a mix. Some nights Itievu sings. Or Iea dances. That 'taur girl is a terror. Knows almost as much about what's going on around town as old Earogwa, has a bunch of fellas trying to impress her, gets lotsa attention when she dances in the box and she got one powerful punch if someone gets too handsy. Course Eargowa keeps an eye out on his daughter too, not that he needs worry much. I seen her summon up a wind elemental to cool down some hot blood foreign trader who got too familiar. Took 'im for a spin and then held him upside down and threw him out the door! That got a good laugh from the regulars that night.

Earogwa, with his dark brown hair all swept up from the sides, greased and puffed up over his brow, pours and tells about his adventures exploring the Salt Spire Mountains up north, entering the blight zone, battling undead, ghenid and all manner of monsters. He says he found the hidden city of sphinxes The Lost City of the Blue Spire and had to make a secret escape. Adventuring all across the east and even raiding tombs in the ruined Temples of the Priest-Kings of Damamilla."

"We are a Minotaur house. Meaning it is a spirit house. There are shrines to the spirits of song, music, happiness, companionship, sympathy, thirst and hunger, warmth, comfort, sleep, pride and anger. Spirits gather here. Many are spawned and many feed and are obedient to the house. Rumors say the place is haunted. Earogwa says they make sure the spirits are just the friendly ones.  A warm fuzzy feeling on the shoulder. Things run over or curl at your feet, or are seen flitting from place to place from the corner of the eye."

Architecture

The tavern (the Lucky Baby - with a sign of a baby minotaur holding up a golden ring) is part of the boarding house (Itievu's House), a stone three floor structure at the edge of the Centaur and Foreigners districts. The ground floor has wide entry doors for centaurs into the entry hall. Off this is a comfy carpeted parlor with couches, chairs, a fireplace, a bookcase, and a small shrine to the house spirits, and opposite is inner the door to the Tavern. The stair is wide enough for a centaur but the stairs themselves are not easy. Down the hall is a dining room, a centaur room for rent in the back, a kitchen and a back porch with the facilities and a hand pump to a well. There is a centaur "squat" toilet ramp with a stand for males and fold down bench for smaller bipeds. This drains to a cart that is collected and replaced daily. The porch has a door into the tavern and the back hall between kitchen and centaur room. The kitchen has a trapdoor to a root cellar ( and a secret passage to tunnels) which shares a spiral stair from a closet door in the bar

The second floor has a stair going up and eight rooms, single or double occupancy. There is one room for storage with 2 bed frames and mattresses, shelves with blankets, pillows, candles and lanterns, ceramic wash basins and bed pans and buckets.

The third floor is the family residence with a locked door at the landing at the top of the stairs. The House spirit guards the door against lock picks and breaking.

The saloon/ tavern is spacious and lighted by candles, lanterns and windows (in the day). The back has an oak bar and a back door to the facilities. The center of the room has a large long table and benches. Opposite the door to the residence, on the far side of the long table is a raised platform with rope fence strung between posts in the corners. This is stage, wrestling/ boxing stage or dance space. There is one set of centaur couches. The tables and chairs around the outer edges are cheap fir. The front has a separate entry door. The walls have metal sconces with vases or planters of flowers and plants.
The Staff: Founded and run by a mate pair of Minotaurs and an adopted daughter. Earogwa and Itievu are quite old- in their 60's and are retired adventurers. The House are Whi-vol (twilight) Path of the Starlight House (Truth, knowledge and understanding). They are all Glory Path . The motto they follow is "Stories, drink and company loose lips." Word in town is that attempts to rob them have failed and gone very badly. Maybe they have protection with the crime bosses?

Earogwa: Male. He is thin, almost gaunt Highland minotaur and his grey and golden blonde body is covered in scars. He dresses in leather vest, pants and bracers, gold horn caps, earrings (gem studs and gold rings with fantastical dragons, manticore and horned demonic creatures), pendants and bracelets. He's old, in his 60's. His primary pillar is Mastery, second is service. Vice: Pride. He works the bar and plays at being simple, but will quickly warm to telling stories of adventures. He's known for his tales of adventure in the Salt Spire mountains and surrounding lands, a visit to the hidden city of Sphinxes and a raid on a crypt of a Dead Lord of Damamilia. He jokes that Itievu chose him for his locks, which he greases up into a pompadour style. If asked about rumors, he'll ask why you want to know and what sort you might be interested in. He will act cynical and is generally cautious.

Itievu: female. Good build, white and red haired, and quite healthy for an old lady, likely in her 60's and of Plains stock. She prefers bright color and floral stylish designs that show off her arms, thighs and 4 breasts. She is decked out with several necklaces, pendants and bracelets and rings. She cooks and tends the boarding house with some time in the bar. She is usually singing or humming. Her primary is Service and secondary Mastery, with the vice of Pride. She is devout, priestess of the Dreaming tree 4.

Ieah: female, 16 yrs. Thick build, very busty. Red coat with blackhair. Adopted daughter and niece of Itievu, so a plains Minotaur. She tends the boarding house, cleaning and tasks, with some serving in the bar and dancing. She has a snake coiled bracelet, fruit shaped earrings and dresses neatly in plain unicolor dresses, shirt and trousers covered over with a great coat with hidden light mail. Her primary is Mastery and secondary service, with the vice of wrath. She hates to be discounted or told she is too young or inexperienced, tending to being contrary and hedonistic. She runs around town and she has a 50% of knowing teens in town.

Dailon and Thova: This gnome couple come in to help in the mornings, cleaning up the saloon and the main common rooms, as well as preparing breakfasts with Gnomish speedy efficiency. They are generally cheerful and friendly and interested in guests and their travels. Thova loves jokes and pranks while Dailon is sunny, friendly disposition unless threatend.
